Saw VI discussion thread

I'd rank the series III, V, II, I, IV right now, I expect VI to be pretty neck and neck with III for the best.

I think V did a better job of setting up Jigsaw's apprentice than II (Amanda didn't really become especially well rounded until SAW III), and V had a much better trap house storyline than II.

Since we're ranking the series, I just want to say that the first Saw blows all the others out of the water hands down. That movie was a breath of fresh air for the horror genre, and I think it's one of the best horror movies of this decade.

It centers too much around a twist for the sake of a twist for me, and it has the weakest acting of the series, although the acting isn't nearly as bad as those that lambast it make it out to be.

One downfall imo is how they keep trying to rehash or explain the previous movie by the following movies with flashbacks ;) Its kindof getting redundant, but I'm still a sucker for these movies....
*I got a guy who works out in the same gym as I do and he looks exactly like Tobin Bell its kindof creep, but cool..

I liked Danny Glover's acting in the movie, thought he did a decent job.

Well I guess we should expect Saw 6 to have more violence then the last one.

It's about as un-redundant as it can be, the games are always set up differently, and each film explores new themes and ideas.
The complexity to the story and characters are what I love about the series.

I was thinking did anyone get a different vibe from that picture of Hoffman looking up at Strahm? The reason I am asking is because in the picture Hoffman looks a bit too clean.

He had just literally gotten his ass kicked by Strahm and was thrown into the glass casket. He's not looking like he's been in a fight and he's looking worried/angry while looking up at him.

So I wonder if Strahm lives a bit longer to make Hoffman worried or if Strahm actually is alive and wasn't crushed completely?

First Look at Amanda in Lionsgate's 'Saw VI'!!!

If there were one thing that could have made me like Saw V better it would have been the appearance of Amanda. We've got an exciting exclusive still for you this morning as beyond the break you can chew on a super hi-res still from Lionsgate's Saw VI, which features Shawnee Smith back in action as Amanda, Jigsaw's dark and twisted protégé who lost her way. In the latest sequel arriving in theaters October 23, Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw's legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally understood.

I also wondered why they didn't touch on Amanda/Hoffman partnership in Saw V?? I guess they are saving that for this movie I hope, and I do hope they touch on it..and in a miracle of miracles maybe touch on Dr.Gordon's story.

This is just a theory but what if Hoffman and Amanda were a couple before Hoffman's sister was murdered? Just a thought.

The more I think about it, the more I'm hoping they don't show Strahm's remains all the way. Sometimes in a situation such as that it's best to leave it to the audience's imagination.

I'm guessing that Amanda picture tells of her beginnings as a heroin user.

I'm very curious as to what is happening with Hoffman/Jill in that picture.

For me it easily goes Saws 1,4,3,2,5. I dunno why I liked IV so much but I thought It had one of the best twists at the end.
