Scooby-Doo Heading Back to the Big Screen

Is this gonna be live action or animated?

Article at the start of this thread says animated, article posted today implies live action. In short... who knows?

Have there been any articles titled "Scooby's getting a Re-Doo"?

Missed opportunity if not...

Apparently, there's an animated film AND a live-action film coming, both being made by separate people.

I liked Monsters Unleashed. Go ahead, kick my ass.

I actually liked it also. The first live-action film, IMO, was kind of caught between wanting to satirize the hell out of the show and yet being studio-mandated to cater to the family audiences that originally loved the show, so the whole thing just felt kind of awkward and a little mean-spirited. MU, on the other hand, I think was a lot more comfortable just being a family film, and it even had some nice character development.

Would be much more excited if it was an animated movie. Kinda excited anyway

Not tall enough, but otherwise...

The second live action Scooby Doo movie Monsters Unleashed was actually decent. Matthew Lillard was a spot on Shaggy but jeez that guy has aged in the past 10 years. If they do another live action reboot movie, I don't know who they should cast...... No actors come to mind for any of the characters.

Accounting to the Scoobypedia, the Mystery Inc. members heights and weights are as followed.

Fred Jones, Height: 5'11" Weight: 180 pounds
Daphne Blake, Height: 5'7" Weight: 115 pounds
Velma Dinkley, Height: 4'9" Weight: 95 pounds
Norville Rogers AKA Shaggy, Height: 6 feet Weight: 160 pounds
Scoobert "Scooby" Doo, Height: 12 paws Weight: 70 pounds

I was in the age these films were trying to be sold to, so i remember liking them.

Francis Kranz already pretty much played shaggy in cabin in the woods. Just tell him no cussin' and you're aces. :o

That's the one! I was scratching my head trying to work out what movie i had seen that i felt like would be a great template for scooby doo . It really was essentially an R rated scooby film right down to the shaggy character and "twist".

Would love to see a more mature take on the franchise. Not necessarily PG-13 but close to it

Loved the first two live-action movies when I was a kid, and always watched the animated movies (Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase!) whenever they were on TV. Hopefully this one gets some real thought put into it

Could be interesting, Scooby-Doo would probably need to be portrayed as a real dog instead of a CGI cartoon though.

No I want Scooby to be a CG character that looks more like the cartoon version, instead of making the wishy washy 'real but still cartoony' take.

The version of the previous films was the closest to cartoon you could get in a film like this, he was prety much the same character from the show in his looks and movements.

I think by using a real dog takes away from Scooby even if they CG the mouth.

Let's have a kids version of Saving Private Ryan while we're at it.

The big problem for me with the movies was it was missing the atmosphere of the show. That was a huge key to why that show worked. It was funny but creepy as well. Keep it for families but get a director that can do that gothic atmosphere.

And enough with the scat humor too. Farting/pissing/vomiting just isn't funny, guys :o

Part two was probably the best translation.

I was a big fan of Scooby-Doo when I was kid. I even didn't mind Monster's Unleashed.

I agree with the people wanting a change in tone. I was genuinely creeped out by parts of the cartoon when I was young. It obviously can't go too far in that direction, but less slapstick and more atmosphere would go a long way.

But I honestly don't know how they could do the dog at all. It didn't really work in the other movies, but I don't know how else to do it?

I would love for them to make a Scooby movie more like Zombie Island and Mystery Incorporated. Those two were the most mature of anything Scoobie related.
