Cartoon Network and Warner Premiere have announced the start of production on SCOOBY-DOO: IN THE BEGINNING, an all-new, live-action prequel that will be debut on the network fall 2009 to coincide with the DVD release. This original movie will commence principal photography on August 4, 2008 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

SCOOBY-DOO: IN THE BEGINNING is set prior to the 2002 and 2004 live-action Scooby-Doo films. The newest entry in the popular franchise finds the Mystery Inc. gang, a mismatched quartet of unlikely teenage pals, uniting for the first time to solve the haunting of their high school. The film is a co-production between Warner Premiere and Cartoon Network. Warner Home Video will be the home entertainment distributor.

Brian Levant (THE FLINTSTONES, BEETHOVEN) will direct, Brian Gilbert (THE DEATHS OF IAN STONE) will produce and the Altiere Brothers (DOCTOR DOLITTLE, GOIN' HOLLYWOOD) wrote the script.

The live-action cast is headed by Rob Amell (LIFE WITH DEREK, CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2) as Freddy along with relative newcomers Kaitlyn Melton as Daphne, Hayley Alcroft as Velma and Nick Palatas as Shaggy.

Scooby-Doo will appear via computer-generated animation (courtesy of Animation Picture Company), and his voice will be provided by Frank Welker. Welker was a core member of the original SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU? cast as the voice of Freddy. He has preformed voiceover work in more than 500 animated television series spanning thousands of episodes, and is regarded as the preeminent voiceover specialist for animals and obscure sounds in Hollywood.

That's....

Actually I really dont know how to respond to that.

I was wondering when they'd make the 3rd...but this needs to go to theaters....it's scooby muther ****ing doo.

I HATE straight to DVD crap

Well, if it's anything like the animated Scooby Doo movies that have been released in recent years, you can bet it will be crap.

I'm sure they're only doing this because next year is the 40th Anniversery of the original Scooby series.

I am so pumped. The first too Scooby Doo moview are masterful and I can honestly say that the world will be a much better place with a third. *end sacasam*

I can't find pictures of the girl playing Velma, but Fred, Daphne, and Shaggy were all cast clearly on their looks.

a side from looking like she's part japanesse, or something, I can kinda, maybe see a slight, resemblances to Linda's version of Velma, anyway

so, anyway, what is this support to like a pup name scoob doo the movie or what
without atleast an 18+ Daphne, whats the point lol j/k

I enjoy the other movie (for what they were) for the most part
so, this might be worth a viewing, once its on tv

I heard about this prequel film a few months ago and i hope it does well, but why the heck cast an asian looking girl for velma if this is to be a prequel to the two theatical films?????

If I remember correctly it's Sarah and her hubby who kept a third film with the original cast from being made in the first place. :o

Sarah got bored of Daphne, much like she got bored of Buffy. :o

She played an awful Daphne anyway. Actually everyone other than Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby were pretty out of character in the movies.

Eh. I thought she was an awesome Daphne for the fact that it seemed like a natural progression for Daphne.

''Gee, I'm the most useless member. I mean Fred's the leader, Velma's the smart one, Shaggy and Scooby save the day being idiots, but all I do is look pretty and get kidnapped." Something like that would strive a girl to try to prove herself like Daphne did in the first two movies.

Her husband was the awful one. :o

Fred was dumb and she was spoiled and dumb. Much like their personalities in A Pup Named Scooby Doo, but not in the original show. :o

Though if you want to go with canon, Daphne was only useless and a damsel in the first series, when it got to the late 70's and 80s she took over as leader until Fred and Velma came back.

The one they got as Shaggy looks nothing like him. At least with the other actor in the Scooby films they hirghed some one who looked like the guy. He even did a good impression of him. I hope they do some thing to make him look like Shaggy. Die his hair and of course give him Shaggys clothes.

Scoooby Doooby Doo, Where Are Youuuu?

I'm pre-ordering right now!!!

NOT

The original Velma is a major babe. I have to say that she even looks better than SMG.

thats one thing i hated about the movies, velma was 10x hooter than daphne
