Homecoming score thread

ditch Zimmer PLEASE. WTF was the ASM2 score?!?

Elfman's score is timeless and definitive Spider-Man. They should try to get Elfman again. They're using Zimmer for the reboot Batman after all

They should ether do zimmer again the score is a classic it was asm1 that had the wtf score. Or bring elfman' back and have him and zimmer do a score together.

I like elfman, Horner, and zimmer asuch as the next guy and I really don't mean to be rude here but I just like to know someone who hasn't done spidey before like Henry jackman

when you post youtube links, you only post the stuff after the "=" of the url.

I too would like a fresh composer. Zimmer needs to leave or do something completely new.

While horner was tearable and zimmer is one of the best composers ever. Ever thing he does is ether good or really good or great and elfman is a very underratied composer and his man theme is just amazing. I don't see any one doing a better job then zimmer did. Really zimmer should do ever movie soundtrack there is just no one has good has him other then john Williams.

What about having someone who has done cool video game music before? Like the batman arkham games have some really cool music but they do kind of sound like the dark knight trilogy so if they did it there music could end up sounding a lot like asm2 music.

I thought the dubstep parts were cool as hell.

Honestly, I think some people on here are a little narrow minded.

I kinda want to hear Steve Jablonsky take a shot at Spidey. I even think that Webb originally wanted him, but he was too busy with TF4 so that's when he asked Zimmer.

I liked them too.

Though I wouldn't say people are "narrow-minded" rather I'd just chalk it up to people having different tastes.

Well. There's taste, and then there's calling Spidey + dubstep an "unforgivable sin".

why? it's not like there was dubstep in the Spider-man theme, it was just the Electro stuff, there was no dubstep even in the Goblin tracks
eh just my taste. i don't think dubstep and superhero movies mix. But if you're going to do dubstep with a comic book character, Electro is a good choice. yeah not wanting dubstep in a superhero movie definitely makes me narrow minded though.

Nah, I never said that.

I said "Spider-Man + dubstep is an unforgivable sin" sounded narrow minded. However, if you don't like dubstep, sure. Nothing wrong with that.

do you know what a hyperbole is? :oldrazz:
i actually do like dubstep, but there is no place for dubstep in a superhero movie score. I feel like that is a given.
with the dubstep, they tried something new and it didn't exactly work out. To me the dubstep seemed like another weird, out of touch attempt to reach younger people

someone suggested the composer for the Arkham games and honestly I wouldn't even be opposed. I know it's videogame music, and that's probably less regarded, but the music in that game is actually amazing and memorable and TOTALLY Batman. They captured the character perfectly. If that composer never does a Spidey movie, that's fine. But get that dude to score a Rocksteady Spider-Man game!!

You guys are talking about Spidey fatigue, and that's real, but think about it... If Spidey got a game from Rocksteady, that would totally reinvigorate the character in a lot of people's eyes.

Oh, yes. Anyone who's spent an hour on SHH will know hyperbole in its full glory.

I just didn't realize you were hyperboling, you just dropped in out of nowhere, said dubstep + Spidey was a sin, and left. Oh, well. Let's drop that. :)

Aaaanyway. Trust me, videogame music isn't held in any lower regard than film music, these days. Videogames has had some excellent OSTs in the last few years... As in excellent. Zimmer did great work on the Modern Warfare 2 soundtrack, the Watch Dogs soundtrack is cool as hell, all three of the Uncharted games has had GREAT soundtracks by Greg Edmonson, and last but not least, Gustavo Santaolalla's soundtrack for The Last of Us is minimalism at its absolute best - it impeccable.
