I felt last week's episode was hard to top, but I get why this had to be the finale in terms of how things played out. That said, this episode was good, just not great.

I hope we get to find out what the cities were. The shot of the desolate city and that giant Hydra symbol was great.

The entire time on the planet, whenever Ward looked at Fitz and kept calling him an offering, I was thinking convinced Fitz was going to die or get marooned on the planet in Coulson's attempt to rescue him.

Mack and Daisy are a great team as always.

Ice cold by Coulson to kill Ward like that in order to get the satisfaction of ending it while the portal is closing. Ward was pretty much dead, and I like that there was tension/concern from Fitz after they escaped. He put himself, Fitz, Daisy, and Mack in danger just to get revenge. I wonder what direction they're going with that.

Speaking on their escape from the explosion, that was a little ridiculous, but it was cool.

Glad Ward is still around. He's the best and now we're on Ward 3.0 with this being taking over his body. If Will is any indication, it's going to have access to Ward's personality and memories as well as decay. Imagine the rest of the season we see Ward's body falling apart. Someone suggested Ward turn into Taskmaster a long time ago. I'm okay with that.

I just want to say how much more I like Melt-y guy than Lincoln. Like... so much more. Especially this episode where Lincoln got to show off his single personality trait - whining insistently. Dude, while you were busy being a whiny brat Joey took three bullets for your girlfriend. He's gay and he's still better for Daisy than you are. Let that sink in.

Enjoyed he mid season finale, though it was a bit of a let down compared to last week, the finale while emotionally charged wasn't really anything exciting. But I guess it all sets up the rest of the season.

The season 2 mid season finale was much better overall though.

I disagree, this HAD both the look and the feel of a big budget Avengers style movie. A bit like Season One, from start to finish!!!

Season 3 has improved on the previous two in every way possible, IMO. The mid season finale had me chomping at the bit to see more. I'm not as hot on season 2 as everyone else.

I think if you look at the first 2 seasons... i watched it live and appreciated it...but looking back at both seasons...binged watched on Netflix this past weekend... i just appreciate its growth

It's definitely grown in a beautiful way. I don't like network TV due to the budgetary and storytelling constraints, but the time invested in the characters and their journey is what makes it work so well.
