Famous youtube reviewers Schmoes Know ripped Scream 4 a new hole. Might be the first time I won't agree with them on a movie.

I don't think there'll be a part 5. I don't see this going anywhere. First was a satire of slashers, second was sequels (and blacks in slashers), third was self-satire/parody, fourth is remakes (and little bit of "found footage/mockumentary"). What could 5 do? Part 5s? Plus, they killed everyone except the original cast. Why the **** would anyone haunt Sidney anymore? This one was "clever" enough with the fame-jealous cousin.

If they wanted to do no. 5, I think they should have ended the 4th with Jill being taken to the ambulance, while she was smiling at the reporters. Roll credits. That would have left Sidney dead, and 5th one would have made more sense with Jill. Someone coming after her, or she killing more people to maintain her fame status.

Way better than Scream 2 in my opinion. I will never understand why ppl love that film so much. But I will say, even though I LOVE the finale of Scream 4, I do agree things would have been crazy interesting if done the other way for a 5th and 6th film. But the what if's always make for interesting debates in the Screamverse :) I can't wait to see it again!

Speaking of that, [BLACKOUT]did you notice some movement in Jill's face at the end? Like "omg she's not completely dead after all!" I hope she died. It would be stupid to bring her back now. And besides, the killers always die in Screams.[/BLACKOUT]

The best part about this thread is, if the critics praise this movie, they are awesome, and good. If they trash it....well...who cares what they think?

And dont tell me otherwise, that's exactly what you guys (you know who you be) are saying.


Anyhoo....this movie hopefully will be decent. Unlike My Cash To Take....which he ****ing did.,
 
A little bit of fridge logic regarding this series. It's like as soon as someone dons the Ghostface outfit suddenly they get imbued with horror movie killer powers, like superhuman strength, the inability to get felled by something that would kill a normal person, and teleportation. But when that mask comes off, man....:awesome:

Scream is a classic as far as I am concerned but I still don't see why I should care about this movie? The trailers have been eh and so have the T.V spots and the movie just looks like a cash in attempt. And now the reviews are pretty damn mixed.

I'm sorry but I smell a stinker. Hope the people who want to see it enjoy it though.
 
Nah. If the critics hate it, they hate it. If i'm dead set on seeing it, i'm seeing it no matter what.

I dont ignore the critics because they might help me see a movie I may or may not have seen right away. Like Hanna. I didnt really notice it too much, until it got a **** ton of Buzz. And I saw it, and loved it. Probably will see The Source Code too.

That being said, since I'm a big Zack Snyder fan, I was seeing Sucker Punch no matter what the critics said, because I was dead set on it.

For those of you who do not want to be spoiled, I suggest you avoid the LA Times article- It spills the beans about the identity of GhostFace in the opening paragraph and spoiled the movie for me :csad:

What would Hype be without your wonderfully weird and charming posts? A less fun place, thats what.
 
Ugh it's back to not being a tomato again. :(

The funniest thing about most of the negative reviews to me is they mention hating everything that makes a Scream film a Scream film. That's why I really don't trust them.
 
I trust my eyes, ears and the director's output as of late. The reviews for Scream 3 weren't as bad as they should have been so if anything the critics go too easy on this series.
 
Yeah, but tearing apart the meta elements? You literally take away the meta elements and knowledge of horror films and the hint hint winky winky nature and you're not making a Scream film.

That's what happened with Scream 3. The meta was for the most part gone and replaced with Scooby Doo style comedy.
