Scream 4!!!!! - Part 4

.. did Sid ever finish college? Clearly she never married.. still a crisis hotline counselor?

the intro/prologue was clever, at least up until the first gotcha.. I half-expected another one after kristen bell/anna pacquin

the kills weren't that elaborate.. stabbings, pretty much.. Williamson didn't follow his own rules for escalation.. whoops..

the gail character had clearly become static.. no children with dewey? then she slips back into the role of the selfish careerist.. I'm surprised but not disappointed she was sidelined..

the female deputy was kind of over-the-top in her conflict with gail.. an obvious red herring..

-- there was no real slaughter at the barn party.. gail is injured, that's it..

-- the deputies were grossly incompetent-- how does A. Anderson see his partner get stabbed and not reflexively draw his gun? and how does a human-held knife go that easily deep into his skull? ah well..

another drawback-- no (female) nudity.. I mean, really.. I get that this is supposed to be the more "sophisticated" slasher series, but...

1/2. That is a good question. It never really said what she was doing beyond that she wrote a book and was on tour. I would guess she enver finished as she decided to drop out of public, and that now she was back in the spotlight, she no longer needed the crisis job.

3. Although Williamson had that rule, technically this was the remake, and while topping the original always seems to be the case in the way of gore (see Halloween '07, Friday the 13th remake, Nightmare on Elm street remake), this seemed to want to really try to remake the first.

4. Not much I can say on this. Gail was my least favorite part of this film, but she was not horrible this go around.

5. Yeah, I wrote her off after that scene where she was shadowed at the top of the stairs and acting all creepy.

6. Despite having some group kills, Scream has never been the series to go that route. Where as Freddy vs Jason had the rave kills, Scream is too much about getting away with murders, the killer trying to come out clean, so group slaughter could end with a lot of witnesses, narrowing suspects, and getting the killer caught in the end. Usually the Scream killers know who they are going after.

7. Eh horror movie cops... look at the original Halloween, they go running cars into people they think are Myers. The townspeople in Halloween 4 shoot kids in the bushes thinking it is Myers. Cops in other horror movies go gung-ho after murderers instead of waiting for some back-up to help catch the guy who has escaped for three films and killed a hundred people. Commom sense does not exist in most horror films.

8. Nudity, really? Your on the internet, and despite having some celebrity you may want to see at least take their shirt off, I could find a lot that would be more visually pleasing than 10 seconds of nudity in a crowded theater. If it does does not add anything to the movie, or have any purpose beyond "here's some sex, boob shot!" than it shouldn't be there.

I was gonna say damn you all for making me think there was Scream news but there is something:

Scream 4 DVD & Blu-Ray (USA): October 4th

Amazon currently list October 4th for the VOD (Video on Demand) debut of Scream 4, but don’t list dates at all for the DVD and Blu-Ray. Because it’s safe to assume that doesn’t mean Scream 4 is never coming out on DVD/BD, it’s equally reasonable to say the date is correct across all formats. It would jive with Wes Craven’s mention of a Fall release.
No artwork yet, though many are hawking a simple poster-conversion as a “prospective cover” which makes it easier to, you know, backtrack if the official art is different.
Special Features will at the very least include Audio Commentary by Wes Craven, Neve Campbell, Emma Roberts and Hayden P., and roughly seven or eight deleted scenes, again according to Craven.

Sometime in October would be the perfect time to release this.

I would love an audio commentary. Haven't listened to a good one in ages.

I can't believe anyone would think she'd come back...

I kinda hope the boxed set just has the three Blu-rays and nothing else, I already own the first three on BD and would hate to re-purchase just for the additional special features.

There's a lot of people upset by this on the blu ray forums. I think remasters and new features are unlikely but uncut Scream is a possibility.
I can live without the uncut version of Scream but if they remaster I'll wait til it goes down to 15.00 or something.

If anyone of the list of three people, people always go on about returning could come back it'd be Kirby and even that's a stretch.

People always go on about Robbie to and it's pretty apparent he's extremely dead as well.

Kirby will probably be the new Sidney. Being the only one of her group to survive something like this

Next thing we need is confirmation that Kirby's dead ;)

Robbie

Now I guess I've heard it all. Kirby is dead also but she's the only one I'm willing to overlook.

I second this.

I would mind Kirby coming back at all, and yeah, as much of a stretch as it might be. Her character is a fan favorite so that part could be forgiven.

I :hrt: Kirby

She's playing nerd trivia with Randy in heaven :oldrazz:

The point is as much as I love Neve/Sidney. I really think one of the kids should've survived. It'd make Scream 5 so much easier to make.

Kirby is as dead as Robbie. Sorry. If Kirby comes back, Robbie better as well. :o

Kirby got stabbed once in the gut. Robbie got stabbed multiple times all over his body. One is less of a stretch than the other.

Both should remain dead in my opinion, but of the two. It's easier to believe that Kirby would survive.

If the uncut version is included I'll bite the bullet and double-dip just for that. I'll see if I can pawn off my three Scream BDs at a place that would give me decent money for them, at least maybe $20 altogether. I'd imagine a Blu-ray three-pack wouldn't be overly pricey. If they simply re-issued Scream uncut on it's own though then I'd happily re-buy it.
