Scream 5 in Development

Great to see mary shelton returning too! Let the hype begin!

Halloween II has its moments.

Halloween II carries over the mood and feel of the first film flawlessly. But then part of it devolves into Friday the 13th style kills and Laurie is a nonverbal idiot.

Great that Neve Campbell is back. Not so stoked about Hicks. I found her mostly irritating in Scream 4 the way she was doe eyed over Dewey, and always trying to push Gale away from the investigation. The best thing about her presence was the burns she was getting off Gale; "Your lemon squares taste like ass!".

So exciting that Neve is in! I mean...what would even be the point without her though, right?

And I'm glad Hicks is back, just because I'm a sucker for continuity. And I also love that this instantly squashes a theory I read of this film being a Halloween-style sequel to the first film that ignores all the other sequels, which would've been a complete waste for a franchise with an actually good overall legacy.

I'm not sure if this movie will be good, but I'm glad they are bringing all the legacy cast members back, especially Neve Campbell. This is really her franchise.

It's crazy. I remember when the first movie came out and it was a sleeper phenomenon. At the time, Scream felt like a clever reinvention of the slasher/horror genre.

Good for Neve. Just don't kill Sidney off.

I know the series is known for it's meta approach, but don't Dark Fate us again lol.

Im very curious as to what will be ghostfaces reason this time around. For the murders, I mean. All I know is I'm pumped and with neve back, this is now one of my most anticipated of 2022.

Would you want two murderers again? I feel like they’ve done that one too many times. Even the “one of the killers pretends to be the victim” twist.

Interesting idea but I doubt it will happen. I think they are going to kill Sid in this one. Then in twenty years they will pull a Halloween and have her come back again from the dead.

I hope the killer is someone really unexpected like the casting of Mason Gooding. There has never been thriller movie with a black character as the killer, or maybe Dylan Minnet's character and Mason characters could be gay lovers and both be the killers! LOL I'm just thinking about all the marginalized characters in film and how they could be put into the forefront of a major franchise. I am so excited for this movie, ironically it will be 10 years since the events of Scream 4. Also I don't like this but Dewey, Gale or Hicks must die in the opening credits, killing an established character would really set the tone!

I can imagine the twist being that there are more than 2 killers this time around, or a group/cult of killers.

I was let down by the fourth film. It didn't live up to the previous ones, despite Wes Craven being involved, and having someone like Emma Roberts in the cast.
She isn't a quality mark, I don't even claim she is. But she's atleast a more familiar face than the usual nobodies who get cast in a horror franchise when it's not been relevant for some time (and also pretty much every modern reboot of teen slashers).
Rory Culkin did also have a role. But geez, how bad he was. I felt ashamed because of his acting here.
Prior to this film, he had showed talent as a child actor in a couple of indie dramas. But that was all he had to give. Already when Scream 4 was in production, his days of glory was a thing of the past. So were his acting skills.
Roberts isn't the best actress around. Not that's she's bad either, but just decent.
Here, she outshined Rory in every scene. He just walked around like he was stoned.

Outside of the acting, the film felt like only a shadow of the "trilogy". It was uninspired and had a cheap vibe. Like the slasher reboots of the 00s I mentioned earlier in the message.

With Dylan Minnette now onboard, it might be a good thing. He could bring something positive to the table. But we can never been sure until it's out.
What do you think about Minnette?
For me, he sometimes feels like a "Nick Robinson with the quirkiness of Keir Gilchrist". I can't find a better way to describe his person.

If Gale dies, I will die in my seat too. :'(

lol ikr? I do like the idea of a ghost face cult or two killers competing for kills, and we can see the difference in how they murder if that makes sense.

I hope Hicks' return is somehow in service of the story, and relates back to where the original trio are in their lives. I can totally see Dewey and Gale being divorced, and Hicks and Dewey being together. Otherwise, her return seems kinda pointless.

God, I hope Stu isn’t still alive. That would be hokier than even Sidney having a long lost brother.

Please no, a story like this would be exactly the plot like Scream 3. Let Dewey and Gale have a teenager kid. He/she could be on a boarding school during the events of Scream 4.
