Scream 5 in Development

To be fair, Halloween had a very good reason because they wanted to get rid of the sister subplot. And H20 already did the "ignore the sequels" thing in 1998 so there was a precedent there.

There's nothing in the Scream sequels that really changes the mythos of ghostface (ala Halloween II) since it's always a new killer(s) with each new film.
Yeah, agreed. With the Halloween sequels, they were just getting worse and worse, give or take a few, but with Scream it was all the same continuity. I'm also still a fan of Scream 3.

I accept Scream 3, but the thing is, you don't really need it. A lot of it is redundant. It technically closes things off, but it does what Scream 2 did so much better already.

For God's sake Dewey and Gale are at the same damn place they were in the beginning of the 2nd. Sidney is more isolated, but it's not that different from the second one which was a lot more riveting because it took Sidney from trying to rebuild her life to her becoming paranoid and distrustful and isolated to her detriment.

You can really just go from 2 to 4.

Queen.

Possible spoilery thing.

The ''main killer'' may not be wearing the iconic ultra white mask? Hmmm...

That doesn’t make sense... we know they paid to use the classic ghost face from Fun World.

What he's saying is

it's not the classic ultra white mask. It could be red, green, black, a dirty version etc.

Oh... ugh that sounds terrible though. Those are meant for Halloween gags only. Even Scream 4 bud the “alternate” masks at the barn scene.

It might not even be that significantly different, at least in the general audiences eyes. I quite like the look of the one that the official Scream Twitter account has been using recently.

I can understand people being upset by not using the ultra white, I still don't think it'll be that different. I'll keep an open mind

Faded, more yellowed would work... hell my original Easter ‘97 mask has gradually aged to that affect just from the occasional sun and indoor lighting.

I seriously need to try to avoid the finale spoilers this time. When Scream 4 was coming out, I remember consciously reading the spoilers on here and then asking why I did that. But, how much do you want to bet I don't take my own advice haha?

I was too eager for that and Halloween (2018), I’ve learned my lesson now and tried my best to ignore most of Halloween Kills filming alongside this.

Yeah, I don't want or get that. "Dirtier" or "decayed" does not equal "scarier", a la Rob Zombie's Michael Myers mask (and films in general).

Plus, this film will undoubtedly have a new killer(s). It's not like they would've had a Ghostface mask stored in their basement for the past 20 years.

Personally, I want classic white Ghostface. It's iconic. If the mask has blood splattered on it after the first kill or something, I wouldn't mind the killer leaving it like that for the remainder of the killing spree, as opposed to showing up with a perfectly clean mask for the next kills.

It's good to go in blind, especially when it comes to Scream. I spoiled myself a lot for Halloween 2018, and I know everything that happens in Halloween Kills so it's too late for me haha.

I’m still angry Wes cut around the bloody mask on Scream 4.

I would imagine this film will definitely have strong story ties to the original, if not flashbacks of some kind.
At this point it's what I'm expecting. I seriously am not doubting that a de-aged Skeet Ulrich or Matthew Lillard will happen too.

Eh, I wouldn't mind a more f-ed up Ghostface mask. Not changing the look, just grittier. I actually think the Michael Myers mask in the Zombie films is one of the few things that actually works. I also like the f-ed up Chucky face in Bride and Seed. Same with the Jason mask in Jason Goes to Hell.
