Born Again Season 1, Episode 5 & 6: "With Interest" & "Excessive Force" (SPOILERS)

I'm still late to the party. I saw the bank robbery episode last week, but hadn't gotten around to this one until this week. I suspect they released them together because they were worried it was the weakest episode and wanted to reassure people.

That being said, I enjoyed that episode a lot. It was well done. I'm not opposed to a one-off episode that continues the character drama we've been dealing with. Still, like probably everyone, I enjoyed episode six more. Great to see him suit up.

It still strikes me as odd that Fisk is keeping Adam as prisoner. It just doesn’t seem like something his character would ever do; his whole speech in the original series about not being “cruel for the sake of cruelty.” But maybe that’s the writers’ point— he’s become a monster.
I have a different take.

I read his comment about not being the same type of man anymore as being intended as genuine. He wasn't planning on killing Adam. But he also couldn't let it go and it festered. As things progress (and he has other failures), he becomes more violent. Beating Adam is his way of self-validation. He can show he's still a strong man who can dominate others.
