Hello :)

I made these threads for TMNT 2003 and I thought I'd do 'em here too.

This is just a thread for everybody to discuss your thoughts season 1 now that it has ended. So, what did everybody think of it? Good? Bad? Fantastic? Craptastic? Feel free to post your reviews.

I thought it was a very good season. Great way to start off the new series. Hopefully it lasts a long time and the quality and writing stays in top form. I enjoyed lots of things. There was only a few and i mean a few things scattered through the season i didnt like at first or thought they should have done a bit differently. Cant wait for season two.

It was an amazing season! Every episode was fantastic and I really wasn't dissapointed. As Webhead2006 said, it defenitely was a great way to start off the series, so I'm very much looking foward to season 2.

Freakin' Spectacular
'nuff said

btw I wish iknew about SHH when the TMNT 2003 show first started i would have loved to disscuss the show with u guys. It's freakin' radical dude!

I been with the site since way back around 99/00 when it was originally just spider-manhype.com before it expanded and grew more. I would check out the forums from time to time but didnt join the forums itself untill 2006.

I didn't know aobut Superhero hype! until a couple of years ago, TBH.

My thoughts: SSM owned SMTAS by a mile. We have our new, definitive Spider-Man if it keeps it up. The BTAS of Spider-Man, hopefully.

Absolutely fantastic season, save for one or two mediocre episodes.

Spectacular season, truly.... for me:

SPECTACULAR
12 Intervention
11 Group Therapy
13 Nature vs. Nurture
9 The Uncertainty Principle
6 The Invisible Hand
7 Catalysts
8 Reaction

REALLY GOOD
10 Persona
3 Natural Selection
5 Competition
4 Market Forces
2 Interactions

OK episodes
1 Survival of the Fittest Comparing it to the others, I think the pilot was the weakest but still

This is the Best Spider-Man Series Ever!!!

SSM >> 90s TAS >>>>>>>>>>other shows
tell me there's something better, go ahead... try

Did anyone else just love the titles of the episodes? I did. A nice foreshadow each week.

yeah and they're all based in real topics, perfectly adapted to the situation of the show...

So season 1 is finally over, huh? Well then, if season 1 tells us anything, then season 2 will be incredibly awesome!

Group Therapy was my favorite, and my least favorite was either Market Forces (kinda boring), Intervention (half the script cut & pasted from the movie), or Nature vs. Nurture (anti-climactic climax after a big buildup).

oh why was nature vs nurture anti climactic climax to you?

Well the first season was truly spectacular! Good job on everyone involved in this fantastic show. :woot:

Great first season! This show has managed to get me interested in Spiderman again, since I stopped buying his comics momthly several years ago.
I would like to point something out though. I like the villain of the week angle (which has been used in 11 out of 13 episodes), but as the season progressed I felt myself thinking: okay, who's next...? Although there's no comparing the two, I'd like to bring up Batman TAS. One of my favourite episodes is "Apointment in Crime Alley", this is basicly a story of Batman meeting up with an old friend of his, but on the he has al these other little things to attend to: bus with no breaks and stuff like that. Now I don't see SSM favouring a toned down episode action wise, to the big villain battles we see every week. But who knows, I've read in the spoiler thread that there won't be new villains for every episode in the second season :yay:
Now don't get me wrong, I think this is one of the best superhero cartoons whe've had in a looooong time. I guess I just love it in a different sort of way. :word:

Well, this was one hell of a ride. SSM is becoming one of my most fravorite cartoons. It's just that damn good.

Yes, I did have some gripes (mostly with the end of the symbiote arc), but that show is so freaking sweet as a whole, that it's hard to believe it. It managed to get a lot of material covered in this Season 1 and it all felt very fast-paced and intriguing.

SSM has great character development (I'm excluding Eddie Brock/Venom here). The show did great deal of justice not only to the main character, but also to the supporning ones and even to the villains.

Story-wise, Season 1 was good, but big part of it were the introductions of Spidey rogues gallery. Not that these episodes were bad, mind you, but now it's time for more elaborated and pronoged storylines, not just "who-is-gonna-be-the-freak-next-week" ones. SSM already built most of the foundation, so now it has to go up. Of course, that doesn't mean that they should stop introducing new faces; I, for one, can't wait for the Hobgoblin in Season 3.

The animation was a bit strange at first, but it can look pretty good, especially in the action scenes, which, for the record, are excellent as well (think of "Group Therapy" most, but the other episodes were good too).

So, IMO, for now SSM is solidified as the best cartoon for Spidey, and probably the best "new" cartoon from the last years. I can't wait for Season 2.

One word is enough to describe the first season, and that is -spectacular!
I hope the writers will follow this direction and not stray from this path and find their imagination in other dimensions and magic, because that's never been real Spider-Man, just a lack of ideas.
I was only disappointed with the last episode, maybe I was expecting much dramatical climax for the season, but now in a way I realize that the real climax was in episode 12 and it was about Peter and his self realization. And episode 13 just dealt with Venom's introduction.

This was a great first season! My favourite episode was either The Uncertainty Principle or Nature vs Nurture (Green Goblin and Venom are my favourite villains). At first I thought the show would be nowhere as close as good as any other Spidey animated series...boy, was I wrong!

It was a terrific season and a fitting end to season 1 with Nature vs. Nurture. Beside Spongebob (yes I like the show), SSM is the only other toon I am currently enjoying :yay:.

Even now I am shocked, completely shocked, at how good this show is.

That's the best I can sum it up.
