Seen The Film. Review Inside.

You smell a plant? Get your nose checked, because I definitely saw this film. Not to mention, I thought the film rocked.

I believe him. Most of the reviews from the screening a few days ago have been OVERWHELMINGLY positive. This is good news indeed. Finally a worthy sequel to the 1990 original!

Now maybe a little advertising?

PLANT!

whenever i read reviews i smell bullsh t.
then not to far away theres another person rubbing one off to how good the game is comparing it to popular releases...right.

agreed, considering that i still haven't seen an official "review" up anywhere (not even on AICN), and this guy still hasn't told us anything new that doesn't sound completely made up:
Upon seeing the foot soldiers, the turtles are like "Foot Soldiers!? I thought we took care of them already!" Or something to that effect, I don't remember exact lines of dialouge, but it was in that context.

^lol.

Seems no matter what I do. Be it a long review, a scene discription, or minor spoilers here and there, there's always some people who don't believe me. When are you going to get in in your head that it would be kinda rude to spoil an entire film OVER A MONTH IN ADVANCE?! You want me to take a picture of my invite to the screening? I could do that, I still have it, but what next? "Oh I still don't believe you. You probably got that from someone else." Why even bother. You wanna know the ending? You wanna know how the film begins? Even if I do, you'll still say "I don't believe you." So what's the point. I just can't wait to see the looks on your faces when you see that what I've been saying is true. So, you wanna ask me a question? Go ahead. I'm open.

don't worry about it man, it's nothing personal against you... but, like i said, there aren't even any official early reviews up anywhere yet, so i highly doubt that some obscure board on the hype would be the first to get one, especially from a relatively unknown poster.

and, again, like i said, you haven't given us anything new, and the few things you did describe that weren't in the pics/trailers/etc sound very generic, like they were made up on the fly.

either way, it doesn't matter what i think. if you did see it, good for you, and i'm glad you liked it, but i just don't think you did.

Where have you been? The AICN review has been up for days now. There was an advance screening in LA about 5 or so days ago. A buddy of mine who lives out there was invited to go but couldn't make it for business reasons. Here's the AICN review:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/31503

And here's the IMDB review:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0453556/ (Scroll Down)

Both are clearly legit.

fair enough, i hadn't seen either of those reviews (i even looked on AICN for one yesterday) but given both AICN and IMDB's reputations, i'd hardly call either one 'clearly legit'.

Well legit in that they SAW it. Could they be plants? Potentially, but read the reviews they aren't plant reviews.

As I said a buddy of mine, who is a screenwriter (seriously), was invited to the screening on the 7th (?). He couldn't go because he had to turn in a script. He really wanted to catch the film though, as he was a big fan of the first film and the comics.

Word is though that the overwhelming response was positive. In fact, many of the "gripes" were due to people who were expecting to see the old show on screen. This is good news for us comic/first film fans!

Some reviewers of the film are stating this movie is not violent enough.

Obviously this is a film mainly for an under-12 audience. And while I in no way want to see gore or extreme violence in such a film, I do feel the realistic (ish) depiction of martial arts is part of the appeal of the Turtles. Seeing them kick ass properly (i.e. not with sausages or yo-yos) is what Turtles is all about.

I recall reading an interview w/ the director where he said that they wanna pursue an "R" for the sequel even though its most likely not gon' happen. Still...its somewhat encouraging that at least we know that they want to go there, they just can't. :csad:

As far as the level of violence in this one...just make the fights interesting, that's all I ask.

I can't wait to see Raph vs. Leo :woot:

1. Although a PG-13 or an R TMNT movie would sound tempting, that would resrict kids from seeing this. TMNT has been around for a long time, and new fans are formed almost every day. Also, the cartoons are what kids are used to, and to see a harder edged Big-Screen version would be jarring for them. Plus, stupid parents who can't tell the difference between an animated G movie and an animated R movie until they see it will get angry. The good news is that the film is violent enough so that kids, and their parents can enjoy it. The violence in the film is not kiddie, but not hardcore either.

2. Trust me, No yo-yo's or sausage links in this one.

Good to know. The violence in the first film was acceptable for me. Would I have liked a little more? Yes, but at least provide the illusion (ie: show the TMNT fighting with weapons in hand). My mind can fill in the rest. Unfortunately in the 2nd TMNT film the weapons were removed entirely. Barf!

the first ninja turtles action was the best.

Leo cuts some foot soldiers ankles with both swords.

April cracks a foot soldier in the scalp with dons bo.

Don cracks two foot soldiers in the side of the head with his bo.

Leo slices Shredders arm with his sword.

Mikey you know? i don't remember seeing mikey hit anyone with his nunchucks..

there are kicks to the head over a half dozen times i think?

the movie is violent in a realistic way.

And don't forget, Leo slashed Shredders arm with his kitana...man, the first film is AWESOME!

Can you tell me about Casey Jones roll in the movie and a fight scene that he's involved in? Thanks Alot

Casey lives with April now, and he assists her in delivering statues to big time corperations. He also attempts to give pep talks to Raph about having brotherhood. His major fight scene is towards the end, where he faces off against a bunch of foot soliders, along with Mikey, Don, Raph, and Leo. He helps them kick butt and save the day.

Thanks, I believe you really saw the movie. Forget about the idiots on this page.

Don't worry about it. I got flamed in the Spider-Man 3 boards because I talked about a shot-to-shot-trailer I saw while working for market research that previews movie trailers to the general public and no one believed me, than when the trailer premiered everyone was like "Wow, he was right."

Fans are a funny bunch because they all are nonbelievers and skeptics unless they see it for themselves. I believe you and am looking forward to this, "300", "Spider-Man 3", and "Fantastic Four 2", "Shrek 3", and "Pirates of the Carribean: At Worlds End."

Forgot four other scenes:

- When Oroko Saki gets clawed across the face by Splinter.

-When Yoshi and Shen get slain by Oroko.

-When Casey knocks Tatsu out with a golf club.

-When Splinter gets a piece of his ear cut off by Oroko.

Thanks for the review, Im really looking forward to this film. Its coming out on the weekend of my birthday so guess where'll i'll be come sat night or sunday!!

I love the TMNT but the day they left new york to battle space creatures and crap like that they lost most of their appeal to me. I would gladly love to see them still in new york battling the foot, yukuza, the mafia etc and avoiding the police, CIA, FBI etc like in the original comics they had more style and originality back then, god i miss those days.

I know what you mean.

The original worked extremely well on multiple levels. One reason for its appeal is that they jettisoned the outlandish / Sci Fi / fantasy elements and kept it completely urbanised. In a very strict sense, the Turtles and Splinter were the fantasy amidst the reality. Of course, you had other broad elements -- like Shredder and Tatsu, the Foot, Casey Jones, comic-book-like embellishments (e.g. Turtles hiding in record time to evade detection by Danny) -- but it was remarkably gritty, and in many senses of the word, true. There was a great feeling of verisimilitude; as if it could actually have happened. Again, that's not to say the film didn't have a flair for the absurd (for it did), but it was also grounded in reality.

The problem here is that we're dealing with both a cartoon and a stronger sense of Sci Fi / fantasy. TMNT is immediately more outrageous. Now, in some ways, the original guys working on the first film had to work harder to keep the sense of realism anchored (and vice versa), but it seems to me that these new people had to be even more careful to justify their stylistic shift. But have they pulled it off? I don't like poo-pooing hard work before I've seen the result, but the theatrical trailer and early IMDb and AICN reviews are disappointing; in fact, those reviews essentially dovetail with the feelings that the theatrical trailer induced in me (all suggest lacklustre characterisation, against admittedly stronger moments, outlandish plotting, weak dialogue, and a distinct lack of sophisticated wit and timing that set the first film apart). This one positive review posted herein lacks detail and is fighting against everything else. It's really not enough to sway me right now. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't deeply attached to the first film, but at one stage, I was deeply attached to "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie" -- how things change! REAL filmmaking endures, and the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" has endured.

Even though I will obviously watch the movie, could you say some stuff about the final battle?

Thanks for the review man, I'm excited more then ever now.

Raph is more aggressive, trying to beat they crap out of everything.

This makes me smile....soooo much.
