Shameless

I thought so too lol. It's all good though just one more week. I need some new Shameless in my life.

Nice. I had no idea it was back in a week. Good to know.

It may not have aired last nite but I'm about to watch it nonetheless.

I find it so crazy nobody has killed Mandy and Mickey's dad yet. Dude knocked up his daughter, he needs to be wiped off the planet

solid episode!

was very very very happy that
they show Lip at university rather than just say he went to uni like they did in the UK one never to be seen again
bummed out that [BLACKOUT]it looks like we're done with Steve/Jimmy[/BLACKOUT]

Wonderful start to a new season...

Frank looks weird with short hair.

Was also a little taken aback by starting so soon after last season in the 'timeline'.

Good premiere. Nice to see Lip's lazy ass is not just cruising through university just because he's a genius. He's the most frustrating character for me, so I like to see him get called out on things, lol. Also happy to be done with [blackout]Steve/Jimmy[/blackout].

I'm very interested in the direction they're going in with Frank, too.

It's weird to see Debbie and Carl growing up. Happy we're seeing Lip find his footing in college. He's been coasting on his wit and get rich quick schemes for years. I have no doubt that he'll find a way to make this school work to his advantage, but it'll take a while.

My other theory is that since Ian used Lip's identity to get into the army, there will be some sort of mix up, Ian will be kicked out of the service and Lip out of school.

I'm less excited for Frank's shenanigans this season, but he's not gonna change over night.

Is Ian gone-gone or just gone? It was weird they didn't show him doing army stuff...

I love how even the baby has grown up along with this show. All of the kids are wonderful actors.

Debbie got on my damn nerves. That puberty is turning her into quite the *****. Plus, seeing her wanting to "**** it up" with Holly made my stomach churn. Debbie is better than that ****

You know what's effed up about this whole Debbie storyline? It's par for the course for most teenage girls. I remember a bunch of girls I knew back in the day who were involved with guys who should have been on To Catch A Predator. So, on the one hand, I'm glad they're addressing this, but on the other hand it's super uncomfortable to watch.

Yea I was thinking the exact same thing and I think that's what's most disturbing about it. Because that's how it really is with a ton of people growing up. 20 and 13 is a bit extreme though. I knew a couple guys who were 18 and both hooked up with the same 14 year old chick and they both ended up going to prison for about 8 years

Lip's striking out on all fronts. He's my favorite character, and I would like to feel sorry for him, but I cant. In a sense, you can't really blame him. Because of where he grew up, it was always easy for him to give the absolute bare minimum and be looked at as a wunderkind. Now he's being challenged and he just isn't taking any of it seriously.

I'm really enjoying Carl's storyline so far. I'm a bit worried however, that this will be the straw that breaks the camels back as far as Carl and Frank's relationship is concerned. Fiona, Lip and Ian all know better by now to get involved with anything related to Frank. Hell, even Debbie isn't showing hum any lone these days. Though I'm wondering if she's still upset with him from last season, or is she too is done giving a **** about Frank.

Fiona's gonna eff up her new relationship. The same way Lip was infatuated with Karen, a mentally damaged young girl who drove Lip crazy (Monica), Fiona is infatuated with guys she can never really completely have. Guys who lie to her, guys who put themselves first, guys who promise her the world, but only hurt her.

Frank and Monica are so toxic for one another, but they can never stay away from each other, not for long anyway. It's the same way for Fiona, Lip and Ian. Unless they get their **** together, they'll recreate their parents marriage.

Solid...

I love how Carl is getting more to do. These kids are the best on tv and seeing them grow up along with the show is a treat. I also like how this season has been grounded more, s2/3 got a little out there once in a while.

Also, enjoy Lip struggling. He always has been riding high...

Does anyone actually feel sorry for Frank dying and all?

Obviously he's gonna somehow get his new liver and back to business. Although, the guy deserves to kick it and stop being such a burden to his family. It's sad to see Carl care so much when Frank doesn't really deserve such sympathy.

I wouldn't say I feel sorry for him, but I do feel sorry for Carl, who's doing his damndest to keep Frank in the land of the living. And as horrible as Frank is, alcoholism is a disease. I'm not saying that takes all self control out of the question... It just makes it a bit of a grey area, for me at least.

I assume because he is still in the intro Ian will be back at some point...?

I really really REALLY hope Debbie didn't sleep with that 20 year old guy!!!

Addiction in general is indeed a grey area, but there are a very large number of alcoholics out there who still show at least some semblance of concern for or interest in their family, even while being in denial about their disease or refusing to get help. Frank has shown me no redeeming character trait throughout the entire course of the show that tells me he deserves any of my empathy. He strikes me as someone who was always something of a narcissistic a-hole, even when he was young.

I do feel for Carl, though, of course.

Frank is at least expressing some desire to get better and change. I actually kinda hope he does end up changing but I'm not holding out hope. If he was to change I think it would end up going against the whole point of the show a bit. But, there are other ways to be "shameless" than just being a drunken moron. Even if he got sober he'd still be Frank. Who knows though, they can go anywhere with his character. What people are failing to realize is that when people are actively using addicts their thinking and what drives them on a daily basis is just completely different than other people. So, their behavior reflects that. They're driven to do whatever they have to to support their addiction. People can and do change it just usually takes reality smacking them in the face and a desire to change and stop suffering

he's certainly less likeable than the UK one

but

for me his character is essential in the portrayal of his family - theyre not necessarily bad people, they just have everything stacked against them including their deadbeat dad
