Shameless

Good for Carl getting his life together, he's been a very likable character since his big black friend killed the kid who stole his bike.

I hope Trevor kicks rocks, has a good heart but he is just an irritating person and comes off so whiny.

So I just started watching the show over the weekend. Really enjoying it, at the end of Season 2.

They gave Karen such a great arc in Season 1 and started her down a decent road but then just turned her into an unsympathetic ass.

The recasting of Mandy seemed to cause the character to lose all personality she had. She turned into the casual bad girl.

Im at the end of S4 and Fiona is PISSING ME OFF. Stop messing up your life!

Yes season 4 was a tough year for Fiona and she could blame no one but herself. I'm glad you seem to be enjoying the show. Season 4 is my favorite season. That's not to say the future seasons are bad it's just season 4 hit me on a more emotional level.

On Season 6 now...ever since Ian came back from the army, he has just been the hottest of hot messes. I really enjoyed him the first 4 seasons but he's lost a lot of his appeal.

Hopefully they have Fiona settle down for at least a season again. Mike was my favorite of her many boyfriends. Shame it couldn't work out.

I finally got around to finishing season 7 and the end was very touching. William H. Macy was wonderful as usual.

I love William H Macy but if this show can only ever get one Emmy nom a year Emmy Rossum should've gotten it this year (as well as some years past). The fact that she keeps getting ignored is crazy.

Anybody watching this season?

Watching the latest season, Ians whole messiah storyline is annoying.

Season 8 is IMO the worst of them all. Like, by far. Maybe bingewatching can be more "tolerable". But watching it weekly... man, it was hard. Almost gave up.

This season definitely has A LOT of over the top storylines.

I'm on the finale now but just the thought that Fi could lose everything because of some homeless people? Come on now.

Lip's storyline was what kept me watching because it was the only one that had some heart in it.

Yeah, we all know Shameless is a comedy too (and the show started to embrace the comedy more after they switched categories in the Emmys), but Shameless always had heart. It was always heartbreaking and heartwarming to watch and that is where the show had its strenght. But in this eighth season most storylines were heartless and empty. It was hard to root for because there was basically nothing to root for. No emotional stake.

I agree.

I think they really need to start bringing back some of the original characters that left the series sometime ago.

As much as I love those characters, I don't think they need to be back. I think the show needs to create new supporting characters as strong as the ones that left the show.

But the problem is that they're struggling to do that since season 5.

Two episodes in of season 9. Anybody watching?

I'll get to it after this busy period at work. Honestly, I'm surprised this show is still going. I keep expecting it to get cancelled.

I wonder what their going to do now the Emmy Rossum is leaving.
