Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 1

Given the details, he could've ended up having a bigger role the next go around. Ah well, so much for that one...

Yes, its clear he wanted more of a substantial role (I've posted previously why a cameo with a lead to featuring more in a sequel was pointless so I agree with the Oak on that score) but his comments reveal that he wasn't sold on the script in general and I'd submit that he's in a better position to have an opinion about it having actually read it, as opposed to those who haven't who just take it as read that it must be great just because Shane Black wrote it.

I wouldn't put too much stock into the Oak's tastes.

I agree with you on principal mate but with the amount of crap Arnie has been in over the years I'm confident a Shane Black script isn't any worse that some of them.

I'm convincing myself if was just the role rather than the script itself 🤞🏽

Me too... I spoke with him, I think it was that he didn't have enough to do. Enough presence in the film.

So will this be a sequel or a reboot? I hope the first 2 movies are still canon and we hear the awesome theme music.

Given some of the movies that The Brawny Man has been in over the years, I'm not sure that his ability to pick good scripts is particularly foolproof.

Also I agree that he likely wanted a bigger/more substantial role.

Let's be honest, practically every movie he's done in recent years has been horrible. He wanted a bigger role, didn't get it and is saying the script "wasn't good enough." Still not totally getting the logic behind this one.

I thought MAGGIE was pretty good....a nice different take on the genre.

Yeah, I thought Maggie was pretty decent, and it was something of a different performance than we're used to from Arnie.

Also enjoyed Escape Plan, to be honest.

Nothing Arnold said surprised me. None of it (what little was said) was unexpected either.

Disappointing he won't have a role. It doesn't do anything to shake my confidence in this project however. Arnie clearly wanted a different role, and I certainly wouldn't trust him as a judge of a good script, so his reluctance doesn't mean much to me.

I enjoyed both too, but if I'm being honest with myself it was purely for Arnold-nostalgia. I wouldn't describe either as particularly good.

I'm perfectly okay with it. It just probably came down to an ego thing where he wanted more of a role.

And Arnie's word against a Shane Black script? Yeah, not gonna happen in a million years.

I forgot about that one but you're right, sir, I will give you that one. The overall movie was pretty solid. But outside of Maggie, they've been less interesting rehashes of movies he did 20 years ago. This, I think, could've been a chance to turn that around.

I'd be fine if Danny Glover replaced Ahnuld for the cameo role

You know who I would like to see do a cameo....Elpidia Carrillo.

That would be nice. She cameo'd in the second as the mistress of the drug dealer so it would be a interesting continuity link between the primary Predator films.

I didn't even know that

Are you sure about that? She appeared for only a second or two on a TV screen in Busey's command center as Anna, and it is reported she filmed a small scene being debriefed by military that was cut....but I've never heard she played a different part in it.

I didn't know there were talks of having Arnold in the movie but now that I know and he won't be in it...I don't care one way or the other. Give us a good Predator film.

Perhaps if they decided to cut her role they gave her another bit?
