The #metoo movement had better Predator reveals than this trailer.

I have not read the script or read spoilers. i am speculating based on the trailer.

Boyd Holbrook is a soldier. In the trailer we see that he walks in the woods toward a space ship with a predator inside it. He steals the alien parts and sends them to his house. the box is not for the kid as a present but just so the parts go home. He is not home yet so his son opens it. The kid activates the alien tech and calls the predators that come to Earth in the second and third act. maybe to help the predator that crash landed. The predator from the woods that the soldier find is IMO the one in the lab.

I think the footage with the kid playing around and the ship crashing are not connected. the parts that he plays are from the ship that crashes.

Dutch's grandson? :cwink:

I read overview of the script and it sounds bizarre as hell. Mix of a black comedy and a Spielberg adventure/family film.

Let's see if he pulls if off. My expectations pretty much hit rock bottom. So I can only be pleasantly surprised.

Was that ever established in the movies? It's not like Predator 2 takes place 100 years after the first movie?

Yeah avp 1 set it up and fans ran with it as the mythos. I always thought it was dumb and way too long for them to hunt again. Every decade i would be ok with but then again why even put a timetable on the predator. Random hunts and choosing different climates of the earth is far more interesting. Sure the heat vision is a big thing but you can write around that.

I usually skip trailers but I caved with this. And yeah...I mean Shane Black has one 1 mediocre film in his directing filmography.

But that was a really poor put together trailer. Really poor

I've been watching the Halloween movies over the last week and the trailer had that vibe with the Predator stalking through the small town, there was no standout shot but I'm intrigued to see what Black has done.

What's with all the negative reactions toward the trailer? It's a fine piece of entertainment.

They should have had it be a Feamle Predator.

I did not at any point think the kid was actually piloting the spaceship. Pretty sure it's just edited to position the imagery of an innocent child playing around against the imagery of what will be a violent invasion by an alien race of warriors. And it's darkly humorous, because the kid is pretty spot on.

That's what I took from it anyway.

That's what I thought as well. I really doubt the predators remote pilot their ships by waving a small hand held piece around like it's a toy. The thing the kid is playing with is probably just a homing beacon that's meant to call the ship to the beacon. I dont think the beacon has any control over the crafts actual maneuverability.

I genuinely don’t see what’s wrong with this teaser, but then again I’m the guy saying this about every teaser.

Completely agree.

Well I thought the trailer was alright. The normal Predator (s) looked good. I have no issues with the mask.

But once they mentioned the "hybridization" and "upgrading" I lost all interest in the plot. I'm sorry but I can't accept such an idea. These creatures are fine as they are, and opening the door to this whole upgrading crap kills it for me.

But it was cool to see the shuriken return, definitely one of my favorite weapons. I hope they use the same sound effect from AVP, but I doubt they well

That trailer was pretty damn terrible. I couldn't even finish it.

And don't get me started on that stupid kid. Hope he dies in the movie

What's your guys' problems with kids?! Jesus. :funny:

Disappointed with this trailer. This movie does not look good at all.

Predators don't kill children.

Doesn't have to be a predator, could be one of the mercs. In fact, I think it would be hilarious if the kid's dad, the lead merc, did it, reinforcing the idea that the humans are bad guys here.

Though it would also be hilarious if Munn did it, after the audience is led to believe she will be his protector and the cliché final girl.

Either way, I want the humans to have their butts handed to them, with Jake Busey's character setting off a self destruct system at their black site at the climax and the predator escaping before they all blow up.
