they reshoot the final act of the movie. :csad:

I dont belive in the ''maybe it didnt work''. Black knows how to writte 3 act action movies. I am afraid that the studio wanted change and now this will be a compromise.

Sometimes I wonder whether studios should have a say in the final product at all. One would think, especially with Shane Black, that the director has a better grasp of the story being told than the studio.

Looks cheap as s**t.

That's a staged publicity still. Not even a shot lifted directly from the film. Never judge a film's cinematography and visual quality by an Empire publicity shot.

Since the studio is paying for the production, and are the ones distributing the product, they get a say in the product.

After what Shane did with IM3 I cant automatically rule out that this film's problems are the fault of Shane. Shane is more than capable of making bad decisions and illogical plots.

Yep. Finally, some sense.

The cinematographer is Larry Fong, so I doubt it will look bad.

I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Just given what I’ve seen I won’t be paying money to see this. I don’t get a lot of free time or have a lot of spare cash as it is so this one not wetting my appetite just means I won’t be going out of my way or spending my money to see it.

Does look very annoyingly "clean" there. But I dunno, I've learned not to judge from the costumes in real-life lighting and before all the post-production touch-ups. Just look how Thor looked in the first film's setpic stuff compared to the final product, miles apart. Wait and see, I guess.

The gold filigree stuff's pretty cool, even if I don't love the execution.

TBH, I'm not emotionally involved enough in the films to say a definitive yes to seeing it.

I like 1&2, from my teens, and they are solid 'action' films, but there isn't enough so far to make it a 'must see' for me.

Nothing in this film says it needs to be seen on the big screen. The visuals look ho hum. We’ve seen barely interaction between the cast that would make them seem fun to watch for 2 hours.

The marketing has just been atrocious.

Hmmm.... I'll definitely watch this film, doubt I'll make it to the theater for it though. Takes a lot to get me there these days. But I've yet to miss an Alien or Predator film.
Though I do find it funny in the last Predator film they debuted a second race of predators and this film they are introducing what looks to be a genetically modified 8 foot tall predator.

So true. Never forget ........... what were they shooting at? Why'd they look so half angry? Why did Matt Smith look like he'd just sat on something sharp?

(Although admittedly in this case the film was a stinker too)

Haha, not sure using Genisys as a comparison is a great move, considering how ****ty that was, Elgaz. :oldrazz:

But yeah, point stands. Book, cover, etc. You don't judge a movie's visual look from a friggin' Empire still.

I know this isn’t the Terminator thread but Arnie has an obvious connection to both franchises (and I actually have a feeling he may just show up as a cameo in this one). But I think Genisys could have worked really well. I don’t think the idea behind it was bad just the execution.

Arnold's not showing up here, unless Shane eventually managed to convince him and they've kept it super-secret somehow without it leaking.

We know Shane asked Arnold to do it (from memory Glover too? Fuzzy on that), he read the script and said no. Sounds like he was almost in Predators though, but he turned this down since it was a small supporting role, probably just a couple of scenes.

Agreed, I really like the first hour of Genysis, the stuff in the 80's was great. But when it got to 2017, the problems started and didn't let up.

They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it — whatever they offered. So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that.

I know he wants a bigger role but I think at this point in his career, Arnold shouldn't be too picky about appearing in this. Bigger role doesn't necessarily mean better. And he hasn't been in anything worthy since before his governor days.

Yeah man, Dutch & Harrigan just sitting around a table in an interrogation (or just co-operating willingly) in that military-science complex would be a perfectly satisfying cameo for them. Telling old war stories, both have been dismissed as crackpots over the years, maybe both have started hitting the booze pretty hard.

Pretty sure that'd be along the lines of what Shane would have written. But Ahnuld being Ahnuld, feels he needs to be front-and-center dropping another tree on the Pred's head.

Yeah I love Arnold, but he needs to realise he wouldn’t be the central action star anymore. Him getting a cameo in this would instantly make me look forward to it more.

Genysis' failure was releasing the trailer, it was all downhill from there. No one was going to want to see it following that, if you give away that much of the story in the trailer, then you have a mountain to climb before you've even started.

Did well to get the box office total it did in the end.

This Predator film looks like a re-hash of the original with the last one combined. Just no thanks.

If he does have a short role, it's better to keep it under wraps. I can think of two movies that promised him being part of their stories, but ended up being more brief appearances than important, and disappointed fans.
