Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 2

The new mask is pretty interesting, kinda looks like it's built for underwater.

It’s canon if I recall, as it should be IMO.
Agreed, I've watched Predators several times, it's a good entry in the mythos. Are the Pred Dogs in this film?

The re-shoot removed the Hybrids, but the Dog still remains. Though I am not sure if it's the same as the ones from Predators. I think I read this was supposed to be a hybrid dog, with Predator mandibles and traces of dreadlocks. And I hope they changed the script further, because according to the old script [BLACKOUT]the dog would get lobotomized and as a result befriend the humans.[/BLACKOUT]

That image actually does make the new Predator kind of feminine looking.

Armor still looks way too "clean & glossy" to me, a little too perfect somehow. Almost looks like something the MCU guys would design.

Loving that other shot though, the unmasked Pred throwing the dude.

Random thought, for some reason given all the scientists and organization that knows a little more about them, I'm a little concerned Shane & Fred might get into all of that "yautja" EU bull****. Goddamn I hope they don't namedrop that crap.

MadMovies ! I used to be subbed to this magazine when I was young.

Indeed, he looks more feminine on profile view but maybe because the armor is sleeker and nicer than the previous Pred's armors.

Is there a source for this? May explain the smaller head, though it's equally interesting how (if true) female Predators exhibit the same role in their society as the males do - only because we've never seen them before!

LOL no... I was just making a joke because it says "Skyler" on his/her thigh. But I just realized now that is because the Hype poster Skyler posted the photo, lol.

My hope is that the armored Predator is intentionally being played as a sleek and hi-tech antagonist to contrast with the Super Predator's stripped down look.

My hope with the Super Predator is that he's actually still very intelligent and cunning, and his imposing size and enhancements just make him more imposing.

That's sort of my worry on the big guy, I so don't want him played as just a big dumb bestial Hulk guy, the genetic-tampering's like roid-rage jock-*****ed him up.

Like, doubtful we're going to get any conversing between the predators (certainly not subtitled), but given they've run with the "bigger badder meaner more extreeeeeeeme duuuuuudes" notion, I really need him to have personality & intelligence, and specific goals. Not just "RAAWWRGH BREAK **** NOW, ARGH!"

Sort of why I want him to be the "good guy" predator, the others are the rebel treasonous heathens instead. But there's nothing pointing to that so far, it'll be interesting to see where this all goes.

Don’t know why but this looks like a female Predator to me.

It is. Her name is Skyler.

Skyler can be a guy's name too! Hey!

Since when did Predators start naming their kid in English?

Maybe a "trophy" piece she scavenged from one of her kills.

"Skyler" does look somewhat feminine but I'm not betting on us finding that out in this movie or if their species is gender distinguishable or not from our perspective.

In the Dark Horse comics (don't know what their canonical status is anymore) the females are bigger and more aggressive so for all we know this is a male equivalent to the more bulky female ones we originally assumed were male.

Always hated that "bigger meaner female" thing from the comics too, it just makes them feel like insects rather than...whatever the hell they are. Crustacean-Lizard hybrids of doooooom.

i'm still unclear on the premise. how and why are predators back on earth, and why are they hunting one another (apparently)?

No doubt this'll be explained in the film. Either there's a specific reason for their reappearance (maybe they're on a rescue mission of sorts) or they just decided they wanted another hunt? Wouldn't be the first time they've utilized humans for their games, and I doubt it'll be the last either.

If this ties into AVP:2 (as there hints the AVP movies are still canonical) then obviously to retrieve their technology. Otherwise it is possible they are here to hunt again or to get some DNA from one of their favorite prey or maybe someone crashes on the planet.

And the ever popular Global Warming is making the planet more suitable to them shortcut to hand-wave away anything else.

That's what watching the actual movie is for: to find out the details.

I can't believe you guys haven't noticed that the poster who put that picture is named skyler and yet nearly 5-6 comments speculating if that's the Predator's name :D

Gotta love the Hype!

I don't know why, but the new mask design makes me think of ninja masks in Mortal Kombat games.

I would prefer it didn't but there are mentions of props from both AVP and AVP:2 making an appearance implying it otherwise.
if true, it's likely just a fan appeaser. They don't have to be set in the same universe. :)

Not that I mind, Requiem was quite poor, but then Predator 2 was rather lacklustre too. I didn't mind the original AvP (appreciated it more the 3rd & 4th viewing); it had a good mythological aspect to it. It's just when you start trying to connect to Prometheus and the [actual] Alien films that things start to get a bit jumbled.
