Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 2

Yeah, that "revenge" thing is the first part of the controversial news on this movie that I do genuinely hate. Coming from Shane too, so we know it's true. Eep.

Guess there could be more to it, though. The guys from 1 & 2 had connections (rich & important daddies? :oldrazz: ) or whatever. Or that's only a part of why the predators are coming back and taking more interest in us. Maybe it's more like "humans have evolved/become formidable beyond what we're comfortable with tolerating" or whatever? Like the predators are fine with hunting prey a lot more physically dangerous than humans, but they're usually non-sentient or if they're sentient they're not quite as individually wily & creative as we are?

Random brainstorming here, pretty likely it's not the case. Might be a way to go with the idea though, especially if Predators is canon too. Like "three recent encounters with these evolved-ape guys from this crappy backwater world, and each time one of them's come out on top when the dust settles? Maybe if we leave them alone for another couple centuries they might actually be a wider space-faring warlike threat to us, we might want to intervene pre-emptively."

*Shrugs*

The revenge angle makes sense only if they include AvP and from what we have heard so far AvP 1 at least is canon.

We invaded one of their temples, violated sacred ground, and almost caused an extinction event by accidentally releasing a Xenomorph queen. The loss of that sacred site and the queen had to be a massive problem, plus taking into account humans were a former slave species to them thousands of years ago that became uncontrollable.

They may be starting to view humans as no longer just worthy prey, but potential competitors.

Now if Prometheus is canon, it even creates a bigger dilemma with humans being primitive offshoots of the Engineers, most likely a former major threat to the Predators.

Oh no. :(

AvP was an okay film. It would have been much better had they set it in the future on another planet like the books but given what we got, it could have been worse (such as Requiem).

Yeah I’m in agreement on Requiem being horrible.

The stuff I've heard about this----hybridized "super-Predators", Predators trying to conquer the Earth, and now making Alien v Predator canon----don't make it sound appealing, and the trailers just look meh.

My bet is that the reference to AvP1 will be the Pred shoulder gun that Miss Yutani get at the end of the movie.

Yeah, does not sound convincing, feels like some random ideas put together.

I’m sure I’ll stumble on this on FX in a couple of years and go “Huh, not all that bad” and then find this thread which will be on page 20 by then and give a review no one will care about.

Why are they on Conan now? Movies not out for 2 months.

I'm super looking forward to your inappropriately late review. Really, I'm on tippy-toes awaiting it, see?

I wanna see a predator actually use its mandibles and fangs to bite someone in a fight. Bite a hand off or sink them into someone's face. Something gruesome so that they arent just there to look scary. Make them useful.

Shane Black did (perhaps jokingly) say the mega Predator there would use them to bite someones head off in a fight.
