Can't get excited about this. They should have waited longer.

A reboot isn't needed. We know that the Predators have been coming to Earth for hundreds of years.

There should be enough material taking just that into account alone to allow for a quality prequel.
Or...
Just make another Predator set in the present or near future.

A remake of the first movie is just not required.

^^
The mythology added in Pred 2 was very good and in line with Pred 1. It was well done.
I agree with the rest of your most, some franchises are too much polluted ( I call that diluted ) by some bad sequels.

Edit : neutral stance about this new at the moment, it maybe crap, it may be good....

I'm fine with a reboot to be honest. As long as it's not a remake of the first movie. I want something very different. Maybe take it to an alien planet with diverse environments (not just a forest)

Would be pretty cool to set it in a different time period

I don't see the need when I was young I was starving for another Predator movie we got the the AvP movies (I enjoyed the first) then we got Predators and then I realized nothing can top the First with Arnold they should just let it go

Again, I don't think it's a real reboot.

Also, I think Black's next film will be The Good Guys, then maybe (maybe) Doc Savage thought Savage smells of 'vaporware in Development Hell' where it resides with Ghostbusters 3 and Necromancer.

I wouldn't mind the Predator vs Predator concept again. One Predator comes to earth and just goes on a killing spree, and another Predator hunts him. Funnily enough, I thought that concept was really well done in the Batman cross-over.

Sequel, not a reboot!

While the initial report said that Black’s new Predator film would be a reboot, Black tells us that he and Dekker see the project as definitely not a reboot, “As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway,” Black said, adding “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” Black said he doesn’t like reboots generally, but can “really get behind inventive sequels”, noting that he likes “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”

good. the universe is big and Black is known for taking risks.

this will be a good movie. lets get it on.

That's fantastic. He said all the right things. With the rich lore the Predator possesses, there's no need to reboot the franchise any time soon.

Anyone else hope that they'll bring Ian Whyte back? The Predator is just not the Predator, if he doesn't have those typical, delicate movements. The Predators in the last Movie, felt like random Doom monsters.

Nice, i completely trust Shane Black now, i'm honestly excited by all of his projects, i just hope he starts actualy developing them soon.

Great news,I was very mixed on a reboot and only good thoughts was cause I like being positive&give things a chance but this now being a sequel is good and what Black said about it was fantastic

Sequel 2 what though ? The originals or the reboot

Hopefully to neither. It should just be about another Predator coming to earth, hunting new prey, with no connection to any of the previous movies whatsoever.
