Iron Man 3 Shane Black to write/direct?

Loved Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, so this news intrigues me, greatly. He certainly has a history with Downey. If nothing else, he'll likely knock the script out of the park - So the movie will already have a decent chance.

It was interesting to read Kevin Feigue saying that Joss' Avengers script is the best Marvel have ever had. I wonder if that'll change their approach to projects in the future now.

He'd be a solid choice and already has had some involvement with the franchise. If I recall, he consulted on IM1, and IM2 I believe.

Shane Black is a terrific director, KKBB has got to be one of my favorite films and it's saying something since this is the film that made me start liking RDJ. But how would he tackle a super-hero film? Moreover, do we really need IM3 without Favs?

RDJ consulted with him to prepare him for the role in the first one.

Same way every up and coming director tackled their first big budget movie. Favreau was in the same boat as Black, so I'm pretty confident with Black.

To answer your second question, yes, we need part 3, 4, 5 etc., even if it is without Favs.

I see nothing on google confirming it. Where did you hear this?

Me? I didn't hear anything, I'm just hoping they would hire him already.

Apologies if I confused you with my post.

let's hope we get a more personal touch to the IM films than what we got with favreau (decent job but nothing mindblowing in any way) !

Can't ****ing wait, love that they seem to be doing these movies right and not hiring some cheapo cop-out director like the forever infamous Brett Ratner-hiring on X3.
:up::up::up:

He can definitely write good action, which is evident with Lethal Weapon 1 & 2. I've only watched some of Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang but it was enjoyable. Marvel made a good choice

i am so glad to hear this. i just saw kiss, kiss, bang bang and i thought it was brilliant.

Can we start the "Val Kilmer for MODOK" campaign now?

A half hour into Kiss Kiss Bang Bang now and it's great.

My only complaint, and not even a complaint really is that they didnt get Black sooner. Not saying I dont like Favs. I loved IM, but didnt like IM2. Still Favs isnt a bad director. But Black is so awesome, he's made for this franchise and if this is RDJ's last hurrah in an actual IM film I wish Black was there for the whole ride

Im really excited to see what Black will do

Seems like THR got the scoop over Deadline (around 8 days later). Nikki and Mike need to be more vigilant, otherwise rivals are gonna get the scoops before they do.
