There must be plenty of Hong Kong film directors as that's a big industry in China.
I heard Emma Stone is in discussion to play the lead female.
Why can't they have an Asian female lead? Did they need a white female lead in Black Panther? As usual, it seems they think Asians can't carry a movie all on their own.
Don’t know if Feige does development hell lol. The only instance where I believe anything like that happened was with Inhumans being taken off the MCU slate and turned into a dumb show due to politics with the TV division, which shouldn’t happen any more.I will be surprised if this ever makes it past the script stage tbh. its just so random and seems like that type of project to get stuck in development hell.

I was thinking Win Morisaki could have a role in this, if not Shang-Chi himself. He had a small role in Ready Player One, but he's Japanese. I think we'll get an actual Chinese actor in the role
It'll be Japan. He's Ronin after all.I wonder if End Game will hint at Shang-Chi we saw in the trailer Hawkeye looked like he was in an Asian country. Maybe Japan or China?
I definitely reckon Win would be a great get for marvel but definitely not a good movie for marvel to hire a Japanese or Japanese descended person for a chinese character
While Shang-Chi wouldn't have been the highest movie on my priority list. . . I'd love it if they could get Daniel Wu. He is excellent on Into The Badlands, both as a martial artists and in terms of acting as a morally ambiguous stoic antihero. He could do a great job as Shang-Chi.
Yes, I know Shang-Chi is not usually morally ambiguous, as such. However, his best theme that doesn't involve Fu Manchu is "Kung Fu James Bond", and that benefits from being able to play to the darker, morally ambiguous side of things, even if you yourself actually aren't.
Maybe a small role, but yeah, probably not a good idea. I wonder how far away this movie is and when we'll start to hear info
I would think they'd pick someone younger to start a potential franchise. Daniel Wu is going on 45.
That's older thant RDJ was when he filmed IM. This movie is still at least a year away from filming, plus, the studio isn't like it was for IM1. Marvel doesn't need star power anymore to generate interest.
Wu for Shang-Chi ain't happening, but he could be a good fit for Namor
Why should Namor be 45? They need someone younger for that too, especially if he has to keep in shape, which is probably harder over 40.
45 doesn't seem out of bounds to me for a potential 10 year run. It is not like he has to pump up his body like Hugh Jackman or the Chris Evans and HemsworthI would think they'd pick someone younger to start a potential franchise. Daniel Wu is going on 45.
