I'd watch Amy in anything.
One of the top actresses of her generation.

Last year, HBO captured lightning in a bottle not to mention a truckload of awards with Big Little Lies powerhouse combo of A-list cast, female-driven plot and suspense-thriller twists.
Lightning may strike twice with Sharp Objects, an eight-part adaptation of the bestseller by Gone Girls Gillian Flynn starring Amy Adams and directed by Lies Jean-Marc Vallée. I think it will scratch that same dark, murder-mystery itch, showrunner Marti Noxon says. But Sharp Objects is so its own thing, and it could reach a different audience too. This is for everyone.
Everyone, perhaps, except the faint of heart. Adams plays Camille Preaker, a haggard cub reporter for a St. Louis newspaper who as well learn recently checked out of a psychiatric hospital. That stint, alas, has done little to quell her appetite for swilling vodka and engaging in self-harm.
(The words she carves into her own body double as episode titles.)
And things are about to get worse: Shes just been assigned to cover the story of a murdered preteen girl in her hometown of Wind Gap, Missouri, a depressed hamlet crawling with painful memories that include a devastating death during her childhood. Warns Noxon, The past is about to catch up with Camille.
The present isnt exactly a dream either. Camilles wealthy mother, Adora Crellin (Patricia Clarkson), and teenage half-sister, Amma (Eliza Scanlen) a pair of toxic steel magnolias are among those wishing Camille would stay out of Wind Gaps dirty laundry, especially when the trail starts to lead to an unexpected and deeply personal place.
Camille goes on this quest and gets answers to both her own mysteries and the [murder] mysteries, Noxon says. Its like an emotional ghost story.
I wonder if HBO is already considering the possibility of turning this into a running series if it turns out as successful as Big Little Lies.
Would have to be as big of a hit as BLL and considering this show isn't eligible for the Emmy's this year, it's not going to get OMG buzz during September. It would have to build hype up from the Golden Globes in 2019.
Also Gillian Flynn wrote many of the episodes (8 Episode series) and she's began writing for her new Amazon show UTOPIA. So she wouldn't come back. And Gillian's Flynn's novel isn't that big. Would be difficult to see where a potential season 2 would go.
Riveting prestige-pulp.
HBO's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel boasts an Emmy-ready performance by Amy Adams and savvy, confident direction from Jean-Marc Vallee.
Looks interesting, are the scenes of Amy's character as a kid with short hair done with the de-aging CGI used in the first Ant-Man?[YT]asX53aeBPJE[/YT]

A nearly unbearable slow burn, Sharp Objects maintains its grip with an unshakably grim atmosphere and an outstanding cast led by a superb Amy Adams.
Having not read the book, very curious to see how this goes. I get a sort of Season 1 True Detective vibe from the slow burn. And it took me a second to realize the young redhead in the flashback is the same actress who played Beverly in the recent IT film.
Yes it's more TD 1 than Big Little Lies. I know why people are comparing it to BLL but it's way different.
Sophia Lillis is the girl. She was cast in this before IT came out.
