This movie is gonna be fun :funny:

As much as I'd like to see Billy as Shazam having tons of fun, I hope we also get scenes where his immaturity gets him or Freddy in danger.

This. Just because you deal with actual ramifications of your fantasy concept doesn't equate to "grimdark" caricature. If anything it opens up your story and characters to being more dramatically rich.

I really hope Billy/Shazam doesn't end up looking like a bafoon. Fingers crossed

Love it. It could work as a teaser poster.

In that Entertainment Weekly interview, Levi again spoke about how Shazam! is Big meets Superman...and it reminds me again that I've never actually seen Big.

Billy Batson is 14? So only very slightly younger than Peter Parker in the MCU. So Parker actually got to be a superhero and stay his own age while Billy aged up.

New image has been revealed of Freddy and Billy.

Notice in the background lots of Superman/Batman merch. Including a Time Magazine that is from when the Black Zero showed up in MOS and a newspaper article on the wall saying Superman is back.

That’s awesome:hehe:

Officially confirmed as being in the DCEU.

I'm cool with it.

This is always the issue with writing younger characters. The tend to go too broad and for me I can actually end up disliking the character themselves. Like with the usual way they write Johnny Storm in FF adaptations or Ben 10.

It's understandable that a young character will be more impetuous and prone to acting out than a more fully formed adult. And yeah the lack of experience and real ignorance about the world and life experience can and should manifest itself but too often it's handled in a way that just comes off as making the character into a complete idiot in a way that makes no sense.

That's why I hope they explore the mental/moral aspects of the SHAZAM power as much as the physical ones. Wisdom, courage and even strength in their moral and spiritual dimension should also be evident in Billy once he transforms. No it shouldn't be instant (where is the fun if Billy just goes from kid to adult with wisdom etc.? Plus... No arc.) but tapping into those aspects should be part of the story I think.

I’m somewhat confused as to why they’d merchandise someone who brands & kills people, and is supposed to be a dark vigilante in the shadows of one American city?

They saw him save the world with the rest of the Justice league:shrug:

Batman was also active in Gotham for years before he started being as cruel as he was in BvS

I guess. It just seems... weird in the context of the stories that have gone before.

Also - does this mean Matt Reeves’s Batman will exist in a world where he is on toy shop shelves? It must do, if his movie is set in the DCEU, which people have said it is.
