Shazam Shazam General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

That's from Injustice 2. He was a playable character in that game and had his own chapter (with Firestorm) during storymode. He was a pretty popular addition.

And I agree Jaime needs to be on the big screen asap! Especially hearing how they nailed Shazam!

Ah okay. Yeah, if they can make him look that cool in a game, then he would look amazing on film.

While I agree that the PG-13 rating is for something, it depends on the kid (I'm yet to watch the movie).
If the kid is still getting nightmares then it's wise not to bring them. But I know there are kids out there who could handle scary stuff even if they're under 13.
Heck I heard IT screenings surprisingly were packed with kids under 13 as well, and it was very popular movie among them.
For us, just choose wisely based on personal knowledge of the kids and be responsible.
Well, I guess everybody truly reacts differently.
This is one adult who skipped IT entirely, Us, too.

I don’t know if The Rock is a good fit with the fun cheesy vibe of Shazam. I have nothing against him (I like his presence in certain movies) but I hope his busy schedule keeps him away from the DCU.

I think "fun and cheesy" describes the majority of what the Rock has done in movies for the last 15 years.

If Shazam is a hit and makes a boatload of money for DC just like Aquaman did then perhaps DC and Warner Brothers as a whole will get behind the idea of a shared universe concept again especially if Shazam makes bank at the box office which it appears that it will. I mean April 5th for me can't come soon enough. I mean the fact that I have to wait a whole week and a half for this film to come out...I mean I already know I am gonna buy my tickets.

The thing is, I see Dwayne Johnson the action star persona in almost every movie he’s done, not Dwayne Johnson the actor. He’s like Tom Cruise in that respect.

Well, the guy has made a LOT of money being cheesy!

At the end of the day, he's a wrestler-turned-actor who has limitations in terms of his acting, but has capitalised on his strengths (his physique, size, charm and charisma) to make billions at the box office - much like Arnie before him.

He's very watchable, very bankable, and does what he does well - but when you get sit down at a Dwayne Johnson movie, you're under no illusion what you're going to get : Dwayne Johnson being Dwayne Johnson the action star. Compared to, say, the likes of Tom Hardy, who will disappear chameleon-like into a character.

Absolutely. If anything, my concern with The Rock is whether he can pull off playing a sinister part like Black Adam straight.

There's already a fine line given what we've heard the BA film will be based off of. He's coming off like a standard Anti-Hero more than a simple villain. Granted that's great for drama I suppose. When he and Billy finally do meet we get something that the youthful Billy takes as a just another bad guy to punch in the face and it's perhaps less cut and dried than all that.

While I'm excited that the BA film seems to be looking to use Hawkman, and I would love to see that DC mythology (as convoluted as it is) up on the big screen, I'm kinda leaning towards scrapping the BA film. Just put him in the SHAZAM sequel.

The Conjuring series seems like a good stepping stone for future DC films, I imagine the director of The Curse of La Llorona probably will be next if The Conjuring 3 turns out well, maybe even Gary Dauberman.
I whole-heartily agree! Let some good STORY-TELLERS loose on the DC house of characters and let them fly! It seems like a novel idea, but WB did it already with Nolan when he took over Bats!

I would say that David Ayer is also a good story teller who is good at developing characters and their inter-personal interactions, he wrote the Suicide Squad script in six weeks, the script needed some more drafts and some more revisions and fine tuning, it could have been much better movie, same with Justice League, WB rushed it, had they postponed the release date and got the entire third act rewritten, it would have been a much better movie. In short, not giving enough time to writers and rushing your movie creates a messy movie.
