I wonder if there's any possibility of a SW and Visison movie somewhere in phase 4. Probably could happen if they both survive infinity war part 2

These two are only meant to be supporting characters, but if audiences really take to them then it could happen.

There's also new dialogue there from Scarlet Witch, and it appears her Sokovian accent is completely gone, ala Prince Caspian in Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Haha, does anyone even remember that movie? :funny:

It isn't completely gone, just a lot lighter. I think Elizabeth will be able to handle it better than a full accent. And it makes sense, since Wanda's been living in America for a year.

p.s. I remember that movie :funny:

I think it's stupid and unrealistic that her accent has been softened so much. They better not pull that crap with BP.

She's had a year or so hanging out in the States though, so I'd say it's reasonable her accent would change

No it wouldn't and shouldn't. There are people from particular parts of the world that move abroad and do not lose their accents especially not after 1 year unless they're consciously trying to hide/remove their accent completely. Certain pronunciations of saying some words may change but the accent doesn't change, especially not a thick eastern European accent. It's such a silly and pointless change.

Wanda's accent hasn't changed. She's using her mind powers to make everyone believe she lost her accent.

In the Disney behind-the-scenes clip Elizabeth mentions she altered the accent. Whether or not the change is realistic (which I think it is, she's been "adopted" into a "family" who all speak with standard American accents - why wouldn't she speak more like them both intentionally and unintentionally?) or silly, there were a few points in AoU where I thought the accent was spotty. Elizabeth - and Wanda - will be better off with a softened accent.

If YOU moved to say, Germany or Russia for a year, you think your accent will change? Of course it won't.

She still has an accent. It's just toned down. I don't see a problem with it. It's not like Halle Berry who she completely dropped it in X2.

And don't judge by normal humans criteria. She is a highly powerful, empathetic witch with no limit in her powers.

Not everyone is the same. Some people can live in a country different from their birth for decades and still haven't lost their original accent. Others can lose it fairly quickly. It varies from person to person/there isn't some universal standard timeframe in which one does or does not lose their accent.

Also complaining about accent changes in world where god of thunder comes to earth via rainbow bridge to fight an army of ugly laser shooting creatures from outer space. :woot:

Speaking of toning things down it seems like the mental powers from her first appearance are being played down. Or at least I hope they are. I didn't think they were a good fit for the character at all, and they seemed like they were created backwards due to plot mechanics.

As many people have pointed out, it was tough for the twins to be sympathetic on Avengers: Age of Ultron because they have to be really, really dumb to team up with a murderbot and attack the Avengers over stuff they didn't do. It was not well thought out. (This story could have worked, of course, but not in a movie where they have so little screen time.) I wouldn't mind seeing them lean into this, but if they can't - and they probably don't have the screen time to devote to it - it might just be better to sweep it under the rug.

I appreciate Joss Whedon trying to get Wanda and Vision into the MCU and I'm glad she didn't disappear along with Pietro, mind you. But the mind-control stuff was a bad choice in my opinion.

I get that but there's no way an adult Eastern European with a thick accent is going to lose it in the space of a year. Hell, someone with a thick Jersey accent who relocates to Boston is going to lose it so easily if at all and not especially after a year. Softening Wanda's accent within the context of the movie still makes no sense either. I didn't appreciate Colossus in the x-men films but was glad to see him done and sounding right in deadpool. The Halle Berry/Storm accent was a disastrous joke and I'm glad Alexandra Shipp is using a Kenyan accent; lets hope she doesn't drop it in subsequent movies. It's not too much to ask for accuracy and consistency. Obviously, this isn't a big deal to most people here but it's a principle thing for me. Represent accordingly. Anyway, I've said my piece on this.

I have had a Ukrainian engineer working for me forever in the states and his accent is as thick as ever

Hence Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sofia Vergara, whose accents will never go away no matter how long they live here. Before I was born, my Dad moved and lived in Texas for about 5 years or so and adopted a Mid-Western accent. So yeah, it varies with everyone.

Well, don't forget Vision. He has an English accent, and she's been around him for a year too. We're probably all thinking way to into this and it's probably a very small detail. Either that, or she's been taking accent lessons from Natasha - who knows! :woot:
