Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Part 1

That's what I liked about them and what separated them from the other countless Sherlock Holmes adaptations. It was the first time we got to see Holmes in a bigger budget 19th century.

I actually think the 9 year wait was smart because I remember there being a backlash with the second movie and how people were saying the BBC Sherlock series (which I love) is the true Sherlock Holmes. Now that that show had its own backlash in the final season (and is pretty much finished), this seems fresh again.
 
Yeah, I think RDJ and Law did well with their roles, but purists will be purists.
