I did enjoy this trailer a lot more than the first probably because it gave me more of the story this time. But all that action especially being all hyper stylized was just too much, would've been better if they didn't show so much of it. Rachel Adams looks to have a lot smaller role but glad to see she's in there.

The fate of Western civilization is in Holmes's and Watson's hands; it's great to see that the stakes have been raised big time in this movie.

I really hope this doesn't disappoint me.

I think the reason he's not being shown that much in the trailer is because he's not a huge name. If it was some big star in the role of Moriarty he'd definitely be marketed more, but instead its the bromance again.

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros has set Drew Pearce to write Sherlock Holmes 3, continuing the Guy Ritchie-directed series that stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The deal will soon be sealed with Pearce, who is currently writing Iron Man 3, which will also star Downey. This development comes even before the opening of the second installment of the franchise, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, which bows December 16. The film focuses on the battle between Holmes, Watson, and their nemesis, Professor Moriarty. Jared Harris plays that role, and Noomi Rapace joins Rachel McAdams in the sequel. Pearce also did some writing on Pacific Rim, the big alien invasion film that Guillermo del Toro is about to begin shooting in Toronto for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pearce is repped by WME and Warren Dern.

i'm really excited for this now after the latest trailer. So much so that i don't want to see any more footage. i love a good old fashioned action adventure. execs must be impressed with what they've seen of part2 to start moving forward with a 3rd.

This is nothing new, every potential franchise is getting their sequel treatment worked on before the movie is even released. This movie will ride the good will of the first.

WB do this a lot with their movies, they set Green Lantern 2 writers months before the movie came out, so this doesnt surprise me, I'm not sure if this will make as much as the first it depends on how good it is I suppose.

Instead of Avatar it will be up against Tintin, MI:4 and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo followed by Young Adult, War Horse and The Darkest Hour. It has a 5 day head start before those movies are released (with MI:4 out the same day in IMAX). Hard to say, I think it will have a larger opening weekend but it could be tough to top $209 mil with a competitive holiday season.

Interesting how each movie has a different writer. Sherlock Holmes was written by Michael Robert Johnson, Anthony Peckham and Simon Kinberg. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is written by Kieran and Michelle Mulroney. And now, Drew Pearce is writing Sherlock Holmes 3.

As much as I am looking forward to most of those, none are really that tough of competition imo.

Tintin- This is the wildcard. I honestly have no idea what it is going to do here in the States.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo- You won't be seeing many kids here. You can bring the family to Sherlock.

Darkest Hour- People are really hyped for this?

MI:4- I don't think there is much of an appetite for another MI or Cruise film in general.

War Horse- It maybe Spielberg but it is still about a horse.

Young Adult- Have no idea what this is.

There might be an accumulative effect, or Sherlock could hurt them far worse.
