Maybe it was surviving the holacaust that gave him the strength to do it? Perhaps you only find the inner strength to sacrifice yourself like that after going through something like that. Can say one thing, he cared about his students more than he cared about his own life.

It wasn't several bodies, the original report was one body, the report of two bodies was after the other shooting. Even if it was two, would you really think someone would kill two people in one place then walk halfway across campus shoot another 30 random people two hours later? Why didn't this guy shoot more in the dorm? People were probably just getting up and ready for class, but he left, then two hours later started the real rampage.

We don't know their protocols. Its easy to sit there at your computer knowing everything that happened hindsight at 20/20 and lay judgement on these people. Did they **** up? At this time, its easy to say yes, but nothing is never that easy.

They thought it was an isolated incident, and it was safe to assume he had fled like any criminal would.

Now tell me Hippy, in your infinte wisdom, lets say they managed to lock down the school and the shooter was already inside the building or some other building. What happens next? You apprently have all the answers, you tell me. I know the answer, you would be here telling a whole different story on how they shouldve evacuated the school. Probably. I don't feel like talking about this any further but I'll end with this. There will be investigations, extensive investigations. People will be fired, resign, reassigned and fingers will be pointed, the blame game is already in play. And thats their right and exactly what they should do, but at the end of it all, 33 people will still be dead, and none of that will bring them back.

The key word here is thought. With that many people around, given that your SOLE job is to protect those people, you have to be sure.
