well you guys in america have it easy only learning a few languages, over here we have 11 official languages .

German and English have the same roots, therefore learning one from the

No offense, but six years of German lessons and I can't speak a word of it. German isn't all that much like english. Its closer to galec and the scandinavian languages.

what!?!? only a few!?!?
only one!
it's ridiculous!!!
i think that since we're considered a melting pot we should know many many languages.
it's disgraceful.

oh I did not know that

**** spanish, I speak Neo-Aramaic, they don't even make that language anymore. :o

You can speak it all you want in Mexico. It's this "Spanish Nationalism" that annoys me. If I moved to Japan I'd only speak Japanese.

That's because America is an English country and countries with two languages are very choatic.

This phrase shows pure ignorance. In Switzerland there are four languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh. Do you really think this country is chaotic?

really?
well, they do have the same roots, I don't mean that they sound completely alike, but Like Italian to Spanish it's easier for an English speaker to pick the language up.

ahhh... i just think it's super cool when people know Portuguese.
it's quite different from Spanish.

Boo Portuguese :down :cmad: It's like Spanish, Latin and French all rolled into one! make up your mind weirdos!!!!!:cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad:

I guess you have a point there. I always found french easier, primarily because its a million miles from galec. I think thats what made german so hard for me actually- I got it confused with the little bits og galec I remember from being a kid.

I seriously want to learn Welsh, but I find no schools over here that teach it.

I thought about learning welsh until I saw my aunts address, and then I thought better of it. Spoken might not be too bad, but written looks like an accident in a scrabble box. I swear, they're making it all up sometimes, to look at it.

Ha! it was the opposite for me, I bought an album from a guy that sings mostly in Welsh ( didn't know that at the time) and when I saw the Title

"Yr Atal GenhedLaeth"

I thought:
" I must learn this language"

I had that the first time I heard someone speaking japanese. I gave up on that very quickly.

I think everyone in America should have to learn English. I don't care if they speak something else at home, that's their business, but if you are moving legally or illegally to an English Speaking country, you should learn the language. If I was moving to France or Japan, I would be forced to learn French or Japanese. I think that english requirements should be instituted for any job that requires interaction with the public (fast food, retail, etc.) Maybe if everyone spoke english, for once they'd understand I wanted my cherry coke with no ice at Del Taco.

Cherry coke, no hielo.

Easy as 1,2,3.

No one mess with Spanish!!!!:cmad::cmad::cmad: Is the languaje you should use to talk with God!!!!! (english is for business, italian for singing and french for love... or something like that)

**** that, when Hillery wins, and the muslums invade us because of her ***** ass presedency, my Arabic will come in handy

I don't know, but I do know i'm a bad speller, funny guy

So even if you had a best friend over there who was American, you'd only speak Japanese with him? That doesn't make sense.

Seriously? I haven't heard of that before.
Buttsecks McGee.
