Should it still be called a racial slur?

Latinos and blacks are basically fingers on the same hand. Historically, we've all been oppressed by the man. Hard to explain but if a latino(a)called me the n word, it doesn't bother me, never has really. But if a white co-worker called me that, hello lawsuit!

What about if a Jew called you the N-Word? Jews historically have been opressed by the "man" namely black men called Eqyptians ;).

It's is nothing but ****ing ******ed to take offense from word based on who uses it. ****ing ******ed.

Because whitie, cracker, or honkie isn't that offensive I guess. I can never take someone serious when they say that to me as they just sound silly. Whoever came up with those wasn't really trying.

To me N***** sounds silly. How come it is offensive? Cracker and Honkie are serious insults insomuch as if they are used seriously. If someone calls me a white opressive slave-holding honkie I would take offense to that. If it's a racial slur it's a racial slur doesn't matter what the slur is who says it or who it's said to.

N***** can be just as offensive as Honkie.

Do you really need a reason to discriminate based on race other than a difference in race?
Not really, but he said hispanics were the most racist so what I meant was how are they more racist than others.

Where did the N word come from? Did the white slave masters just sit there one day and think "Ohh I know a word to insult black people! ******!". How was the word devised and used as an insult? And what about negro? Is that a insult?

Just a little background, the 'n' word is derived from Latin's "niger", which means "black."

"Cracker", which given its origin sounds more racist toward blacks than toward whites (to me, anyway), does not refer to the food, but to when the white slave-owners would crack the whips.

"Honkie" is derived from the white "customers" who would pull up to hookers and honk their car horns to get the hookers' attention. The black prostitutes thought this was silly, and began referring to white customers as "honkies."

How come i can get called a whitie, cracker, honkie and various other names. But i can't say one damn word?

you shouldnt BE called whitey or cracker in the first place. i wouldnt say they are just as bad, but no one should be calling people crackers and honkies less they wanna start trouble.

i have tons of black friends who hate the use of either N-word. saying that the difference between a or er, is very 90s. these days its the same.

even though my asian friend who was raised in the hood gets called the N word, he says he doesnt like to use it back even if his black friends are cool with it.

I'm talking about the N-word.
As I always see it used as a form of hello now. With "what up my ******" being used all the time. Heck I'm a white guy and a black guy said that to me awhile back.

So really is it still a slur if its used so casual now?
Are you out of your cotton picking mind?

Why not?

The worst racist terms I've heard for black people are "jungle bunnies" or "coons" or "monkeys". They are disgusting.

the history behind them. compare.

Cracker is a term for the "crack" of the whip, basically calling me a slavedriving bastard.

****** is a term that near as we can tell is based on the color of a person's skin.

Historically speaking? Which one is worse? Doesn't matter because there's only 1 of them that's going to be blacked out and beeped out and censored and made a fuss over.

Are you seriously offended if someone calls you a cracker?

Well I've never been called a cracker. But if some one called me a slave keeper who cracks whips then yea I would be offended.

Just as much as a black man being called a N-Word should be right? Just because I'm not offended by being called something doesn't mean that the word isn't just as equally offensive as any other racial or ethnic slur.

They're all ethnic slurs and they should all be treated the same way. Allowing some racists slurs to slip by because they are made BY a certain race or towards a certain race is RACISM.

Yea it's double standards.

"NO!!! You can't call a black person a ******!! But it's perfectly acceptable if a black person calls you a cracker!!"

I consider it an ugly word and I do not approve of its casual use

ofay is a derogatory term for a white person. i believe it traditionally means "foe".
