For those the lucky ones who haven't seen the original Captain America from 1990, Matthew Salinger donned the shield and played Steve Rogers and Captain America.

With the new movie coming up and getting ready for production, one has to ask:
"Should Matthew Salinger, the original Captain America, get a cameo?".

I for one think so. Does anyone else?

Now that's asking too much! :cmad:

You dissing Reb Brown, man? :cmad:

LOL

Have you guys ever seen that Reb Brown movie Space Mutiny? If not, I highly recommend the MST3K version.

well i dont see why they couldnt thrown in cameos of former captain america/other cap related actors. like for example reb could be at a uso scene, and maybe matt could be some random solider or something.

:hehe:

That was one of the best MST3Ks of all time. It's probably my second favorite, next to The Final Sacrifice (Rowsdower!).

The Final Sacrifice is my favorite too. I'm not sure where I'd place Space Mutiny, but it's probably at least in my top 5.

Yeah, everyone I know who has seen The Final Sacrifice loves it. Even friends of mine who don't like MST3K loved that episode after I forced them to sit down and watch it. We used to have regular sessions where we'd play a drinking game with the film:

1. Every time they say "Rowsdower" - drink
2. Every time they make a Larry Czonka reference - drink
3. Every time they make a reference to the kid being a wimp - drink
4. Every time they sing a song - chug your beer until the song is over

There were more but I forget them now.

Did they ever put The Final Sacrifice out on DVD? I have a bootleg copy, but it's not great quality.

Well, according to wikipedia:

The episode featuring the film is set to be released on the Mystery Science Theater 3000 - XVII DVD collection by Shout! Factory on March 16, 2010.
So not yet but pretty darn soon. :woot:

Joe Simon should get a cameo before they do

While it wouldn't be a terrible idea, and I could definitely think of a few places he could pop up; I don't think any of the casual movie goers of today are going to know who he is. Hell, I don't think most of them would even know this isn't the first Captain America movie! What's he up to these days anyway? Anybody got a recent pic?

what casual moviegoer knows who Stan Lee is???
He is in his 90's and the last I read he was more than a little miffed at Marvel for killing of Cap("especially since we need him now")

well i know simon is very old mid 90s i believe and isnt in the best of health. But if he is willing he should have a cameo, maybe some crowd member at the uso show or something.

maybe the guy who designs the suit

Hell yes he should.

As should Randy Couture.

who is randy couture and what does he have to do with cap?

I think a Matthew Salinger cameo would be fun. :D

Despite the 1990 Captain America movie not being something one would consider anything remotely exceptional, I've always kinda liked it.

i liked the movie...there is a scene where Cap throws his shield and its supposed to knock a guy off his motorcycle..,Matt was supposed to just throw the shield and the spfx guys would do the rest....well Matt threw the shield and the wind caught it and it really did knock the guy off the bike and they kept that scene in the film.

MMA legend and part time actor, people call him Captain America.

In fact, given a choice, I'd prefer Couture get the cameo instead.

It's funny... when I was a kid, I absolutely HATED Captain America, for some reason. I'm not even sure why; I think I just thought his costume was stupid or something. But then, I remembered watching the movie (when I was about 12 or so) and my whole perception of him changed. I guess that movie made me like Cap.

Unfortunately though, I tried re-watching it on hulu last week, and I must say that it was utter garbage. Nothing about it was good, really. I guess I just had really low standards when I was that young, I don't know. But anyway, I do have to give that awful movie some credit for making me a fan of one of the greatest heroes in comics, so if they wanted to give J.D. Salinger's son a cameo, I'd be all for it.
