The Dark Knight Rises Should the Nolanverse Continue After Batman III?

Where should the Batman movies go after Batman III?

  • Continue to the story in Batman 4 with or without Nolan

  • Reboot Batman again!

I think WB has learned their lesson when it comes to Batman.

If Nolan quits after the 3rd movie and the third movie has made another billion dollars, then I very much doubt they are going to let another director carry on with the same batman universe. they are most likely going to wait rather than risk another Joel Schumacher scenario.

They know now that good films can also be big box office winners if you treat the the movies with the respect they deserve, not just make them for the sake of it.

Hopefully.

I would be annoyed by a reboot happening so soon.....I don't mind more Batman movies coming out being different than the Nolanverse(more comic-book like?), but a true reboot should not happen until about 15 years after Batman Begins....IMO of course.

Hey Doc, I agree with your sig abiout Norton as Bruce/The Hulk.

Anyway I also agree it's too soon to have a reboot, they should carry on with the Nolan verse with a different approach.

Do you guys really want B3 to take place exactly after TDK!?

We would get no Wayne manor, no batcave,(for the second time in a row) and no batmobile/tumbler. Might as well just strip him off the batsuit too. Christian Bale can just fight crime in his footsie pyjamas.:awesome:

Exactly. I want a huge gap, like maybe 4-6 years. Batman has not been seen, Wayne is doing his own thang, etc... Then the Riddler shows up and starts killing, demanding Batman to come out of hiding, blah blah.

Something along those lines.

No way Batman hasn't appeared all this time. One of the subplots in TDK dealt with him going on being Batman, they won't negate it like this.

It doesn't have to be so soon...it could be another 7 years or so after the next/last Nolan Batman movie....which I think it should be. That oughtta be up there with 15 yrs post-BB. If WB has other big-time franchises going, it won't feel like such a drought without Batman in the meantime. Three good movies are more than enough to own a solid space in a generation/era, and some good time off will let the new version, and the franchise, be fresh again.

Well instead of disappearing then maybe Batman is struggling with it which causes him to take an absence?

What is he struggling with, though? The whole point of Alfred's "Endure. You can be the outcast" speech is that he can be an outlaw, take every single hit from this city and its criminals and still take it, exactly because Batman's the symbol and Wayne's the man.

Take an absence completely negates BB and TDK. He'll probably be on the run with every single person in Gotham able to fight hunting him.

He could disappear for a while...a few years, maybe. If not, then long enough for people to really wonder if he'll ever be back.

It WOULD make sense for Batman to disappear for a little bit...the cops AND mobsters are now after him right now. No one on his side.

I want him to make other DC heroes before Batman 4. I just saw Inception. Nolan IS one of the best moviemakers of all time.

Batman 4? Nolan isn't going to make a Batman 4, and it's extremely unlikely that he'll direct a different superhero project himself.

If Nolan truly is done with Batman after Batman 3, I think it will be a long time before another Batman movie comes along.

Well i'm in my own fantasy world about all of it at the moment. I see this.

Green Lantern. Batman 3. Superman reboot. Flash. Wonderwoman. Batman/Superman movie with direction towards JL. Justice League movie.

And I think Both Nolans should be involved in the process for the long term.

But if his third Batman is a huge hit, do you think the executives won't be demanding more? I mean, no matter how bad they can screw it up?

I'm sure they'll be demanding more...but I would hope they learned something from Batman & Robin.

Im againt another reboot, just keep going with the history in a diferent way,but respecting the transition without radicalism.

I won't hold my breath...but I can hope they've learned their lesson.

I don't think it'll ever be a bad a Batman and Robin again. They whole industry learned it's lesson about the dos and donts of superhero movies from that one, and it'll never be that bad again.

I'd like a new batman movie every 2-3 years, nolan or no nolan.
