Nah. I love the original trilogy and the characters within, but I also realize it's a really dumb idea to fill your franchise for kids with a bunch of geriatric actors just to pander to nerds on the internet. :yay:

Luke, Han, and Leia had their time to shine in the OT just like Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme had their time in the PT. Time to let a new crew have the limelight.

There was a bridge and a lot of connections (besides the Skywalker storyline) between the PT and OT. That same bridge and connection should continue from the OT into the sequel trilogy (ST).

Harrison Ford, Mark Hammil, and Carrie Fisher in 90% of the scenes of all three movies? No, probably not. A prominent part of the storyline? Start printing money.

Sure, you have to keep the franchise fresh for kids and future customers/consumers. But there are already established decades-long longtime fans (or nerds on the internet as you call them) that are ready to take their families to the movies to see "their" Star Wars.

It might be a generational thing. The thing is, there is more than one generation that is extremely tied to the OT. There is plenty of time to start fresh and do something new. Unlimited time as a matter of fact.

Obligatory smilie :yay:

Lucas himself has said at it's heart Star Wars is an action adventure, the OT actors are way too old to be doing the stuff expected in modern action films, I mean did anyone see Mark Hamil in Chuck? he has not aged well.

It may be that Luke merely appears as a Force Ghost along with Yoda.

Yeah, they won't be anywhere near to being the focus. Luke will probably be Obi-Wan to someone new. Han will try to do his thang but he'll be too old for this ****. Leia will probably be Chancellor or something to the like.

I hate to be blunt, but did nobody watch the prequals?Palaptine,Qui-Gon and Dooku, all 65 and older, and ALL got bad *** saber battles.Hamill will do fine.

While Luke Han and Leia are too old now to be main characters an appearance from them could be cool but Id prefer a new set of characters for sure

Hard to believe Christopher Lee was in his late 70's early 80's when filming Star Wars and LOTR. He looked like he was in his late 40's during those roles.

Liam Neeson was 47 when he did TPM which had a lot more to it than Palps and Dooku's respective duels. Luke going about business like Anakin or Obi-Wan in the PT is simply not feasible. Could Hamil do one or two smaller duels? sure, I guess my point is I don't see Hamil as he looks now leading the movie as it's action hero, I see him in the kind of role Obi-Wan had in ANH.

I see Luke utilizing the Force more than using a lightsaber, I can picture Luke being almost Yoda-level at older age.

My only point is that,in this age it's "go big,or go home".They're not going to give Hamill a duel like Sir Alec got in ANH.That ain't going to cut it these days.I expect Hamill to get something along the lines of Palpatine/Windu.Hamill's hardly obese.:funny: With a CGI assist,he'll do fine in action.

Lol I wasn't meaning he should have a duel like the Obi-Wan vs Vader duel in ANH, I meant his role should be as a supporting character and advisor to the lead characters like Obi-Wan was in the ANH.

Hunter Rider, you are ignoring that the prequel trilogy had the elderly Christopher Lee and Ian McDiarmid as villains and they ended up getting quite active.

Alec McGuinness wasn't exactly a spring chicken by the time Star Wars came around. I think you need the original actors playing similar roles.

Luke Skywalker, Han, and Lei if they are in it should not be the center of attention. It should be their kids or descendants. But that doesn't mean they can't play some sort of supporting roles.

But Lucas still used older actors playing fairly active characters in the prequel trilogy. Still when they were flipping around and doing acrobatics it did look ridiculous that should be subdued. Like that part where Dooku is casually walking into the bridge and does like a 360 flip to the ground. It looked fake and ridiculous. He could've just as easily like done a force jump or floated himself down using the force or something. That would've been cooler.

I already addressed Dooku and Palpatine, like I say a role in support with less action than say Hayden and Ewan saw in the PT, that is for the young leads.

Right now, I'm liking the idea of Han and Leia's kid(s) being the main protagonist(s), and Luke being more of a nomad type of Jedi. Luke would seem like an eccentric and weird uncle at first (kind of like Obi-Wan), and would transition into being their wise old wizard for the first part of their journey, probably after something bad happens to Leia and Han.

I just think it might feel a bit cheap to suddenly have Luke established with a wife when there was no love story for him in the OT. Build off what you've got, which is Leia and Han's romance. Besides, I like the idea of Luke being an old school, non-marrying Jedi. Keeps things consistent, but we still get the continuation of the Skywalker bloodline, but under the Solo name.

Meh, I don't like Luke being monkish. Jedi should be allowed to marry.

The whole Monk thing was very PT. Luke is disconnected from that.

I wonder how fast a Wookiee ages?

If the main 3 end up old, he might still be young, or maybe even dead if it's dog years. :csad:

Chewie is around 200 years old during the OT, he'd be in a pretty good shape in the ST.

Yup. And it was the downfall of the Jedi anyway, partially. Luke's wiser than that, it's even addressed in the EU.

Luke could just be a pimp that never settled down. He could be single for plenty of reasons without doing it to intentionally follow the old Jedi code, but ended up like an old school Jedi as a result. He could be more of a hippie Jedi like Qui-Gon. I always imagined him finding some action on the side, heh.

I just want Luke to be a mysterious, mystical figure to the young cast like Ben was in ANH. Making him Mr. Family man would kind of detract from that IMO.

Luke will follow the ways of the old Order. Thanks to the Holocrons he'll have everything he needed in order to revive it as it was.

You guys are mean. He looked fine in chuck.

All Mark has to do is hit the gym, get that chin tuck they always advertise on tv, keep his hair dyed and go on a full fledged Vegan diet.

I'm just worried about his voice... so i advise no screaming for the next couple years... mark stay FAR away from halo 4.

Master skywalker.. the force WILL be with him in 2015... :jedi

Alec Guiness was not an action hero either but he was one of the most important parts of Star Wars in 1977 and if you watch them I-VI, he and Darth Vader and the only bridges from the prequels. Besides them theirs a whole new cast, just put Mark Hamil in that role and get a whole new group of heroes. Maybe have Han and Leia appear in VIII when the new heroes get higher in galactic importance. It doesn't have to be a cast of old men trying to live out the glory days.

I always felt Luke took after Obi-Wan more than Anakin. That's not to say he didn't have a romance or two on the side, but I don't see him settling down to raise a family in the past 30 years.

I like the old school jedi rules.(Duty before passion and all that.)I hope they stick to it,and I'm guessing they will.
