First Avenger Should they drop "First Avenger" from the title?

I say switch the order... Captain America: The First Avenger (use FA for the international title)

Thats what the whole title is probably going to be used for It will be just captain america here in north america and then first avenger captain america on the international prints.

I think the movie should just be called Captain America. I don't think the foreign markets will be helped by the subtitle as long as the word "America" is anywhere. They might as well drop the entire "Captain America" part overseas and just call it "The First Avenger" if thats what they're going for.

I definitely have a solution to the American patriotism thing.

Buy the rights to Captain Planet. And rename him Captain Planet.

Hey, kids overseas aren't going to want to go into a toy store and buy a Captain America toy. A Captain International or Captain Planet toy, that's the ticket.

Like others say, since there is an Avengers movie coming out. And they want the general public to know these movies are tied in, I say keep it. The movie takes place way before the others, so yeah it could show that Iron Man wasn't the first to be asked, since Nick Fury pointed that out to him.

It makes one wonder...what he will be avenging? Has to have something he wants revenge for, or the title makes no sense.

Bucky? I doubt they would kill him off in the movie while having him alive in modern day comics.

Maybe the Invaders will have a tragically short-lived cameo. That would be cool, then Namor can come back to free cap from the ice in the Avengers.

I was wondering if anyone was going to say this, if not I planned on posting it.

Ya i said it before it might be called the first avenger: captain america here/elsewhere. But domestically folks are likely to just call it captain america, and the international viewers will consider it the first avenger.

Putting "The First Avenger" in the title was a good way to **** it up.

Yes. They should. It's unnecessary and a little long winded.
What are they going to call a sequel?
"The First Avenger: Captain America II"?
"The First Avenger II: Still Captain America"?

well we know its more for international reasons but like i and others have said here domestically in north america it will probably just be called captain america.

Or maybe the First cap movie will be The First Avenger: Captain America and the 2nd will be just Captain America

Coming from a Brit, I'd rather it just be called "Captain America", but then i'm a Cap fan to begin with. I can see why they might feel the need to tack the "First Avenger" on, but as said, it should be the subtitle. I remember in my ignorance when I used to dismiss Captain America as just a typical American ego-boost type character (no offence intended here), just because of the name. But then I actually READ some Cap comics and it slapped me in the face :p The character deserves his own movie title.

I think the way to boost foreign sales lies outside of the title. I mean, the Allied forces didn't just consist of the US. Have characters like Union Jack present, and include them in the foreign trailers more heavily.

:hehe:

But yeah, I read they're using this first avenger silliness for international marketing, so.. no biggie

I'd prefer "Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty".
