Cyclops died?? His telepathic abilities would have easily allowed him to sense Cyclops die...which raises the question...did Cyke really die? or is it just another of the many plot holes?

"Get to Alkalai Lake now!" Him screaming in Logan's and Storm's heads. Yeah I think he knoew Scooter was getting toasted.

Uhm, he did sense something was going and then didn't sense anything anymore except Phoenix's presence. Furthermore, he outright says Cyclops is dead during his confrontation with Phoenix.

I dont see how this is question that he is dead. Yeah it was not on screen but come on. Jean said "stop me before I kill someone else" Logan and X said you killed Scott and she didint protest. He is dead.

I think at this stage it's safe to say that the screenwriters didn't know what the hell they were doing.

Xavier knew Jean would kill him, therefore he got Moira to clone him so that when Phoenix turned him into kitty litter he could possess his lifeless cloned body. :D

Jean is so confused when she asks Logan to kill her. Who the hell knows what she did at Alkali Lake! Maybe Logan's questioning made her believe that she killed him. She has flashbacks to the scene, but none of him dying.

Perhaps Xavier knows, or better yet, senses that Scott is still alive but says that Jean killed the man he loved to get into her head and control the Phoenix.

I dunno...

He could just be sensing something afoot at Alkali.

And also, exactly how long did it take for Xavier to sense that Jean was ALIVE at the end of X2?

His Surviv-O-Meter's a little off if you ask me...

Continuity, thy name is not X-Men 3.

Sigh. I thought he knew that Jean was alive at the the end of X2 and that "everything would be allright". LIES! :(

The confusion over what happened to Cyclops is intentional. If they wanted it to be open-and-shut they would have . . I dunno . . SHOWED HIM DIE.

Gee, this watching movie thing is tough work.

...or your not paying much attention to detail.:spidey:

...SHOWED HIM DIE.

its editing. they wanted to create some tension to what had happened. and it would of been pointless to repeat effects. or at least thats what they thought, apparently they need to show everything in great detail to get everything through...

Um, did you miss the fact that they did repeat effects throughout the film? It's not "editing", it's called leaving things open.

Yeah, I thought Xavier would have been able to sense whether or not Scott was dead or alive. But maybe Jean was blocking Xavier from being able to sense whether Scott had died, or perhaps she even used her power to convince Xavier that scott was definitely dead, in a sense trying to protect him. Jean loved Scott and didn't want him to be involved in the situation. She knew that either A) the Phoenix part of her would end up killing him and she couldn't bear that or B) she/phoenix would die and scott would have to live through her death yet again (or that he would not allow her to die or try to die with her because he is so devoted to her).

Either way it would be Jean usuing her power to try and protect Scott from what would happen. She loved him to much to let him get involved. It's like in X2, when she closes the doors to the X-Jet, and Scott is trapped inside and freaking out. She was protecting him because she knew he would die for her. She didn't want him to die.

Of course all this is just an idea explaining what could have happened. There is no further story, and maybe there won't be, maybe this really is the end of these characters in this movieverse. But if a sequel were to be made off of this, or a cartoon series, or a comic, or whatever, this is a possible explanation.

Are there any plotholes in what i'v esaid? I'm not sure, i could have overlooked something. Ah well, i'd like to think scott is alive and jean did her best to try and protect him from everything that she knew would happen.

It'd seem to be kinda like a cop-out for the sake of bringing Cyclops back...I mean, there was just too much implicating his death that to have him return again seems a bit cheap and repetitive...To ME anyway..
