Shows that would make great films

M.A.S.K.: (come on...awesome visuals + paper thin story would = big bucks!)

Um...what is that name of that vampire soap opera? Might as well take advantage of that Twilight crowd and give the older chicks a concept they might remember.

Power Rangers: Lots of people say go silly and campy...but I say do straight up action that doesnt take itself seriously. I wouldn't go for comedy because it'd just end up a bunch of weed and sex jokes ala every other tv-based comedy movie.

Voltron: A giant sword-wielding robot in space. If this does not interest you, you are not my friend.

Thundercats: If Avatar proved one thing, it is that Thundercats could look awesome!

Either you're talking about Dark Shadows or True Blood?

Thundercats would be amazing. I am an aspiring writer/director and Thundercats has always been a dream project of mine. I hate James Cameron for pretty much bringing to life for what I had in mind for Thundercats. :csad::cmad::o

How about Robotech? I know Tobey Maguire has been trying to get that off ground since he's a huge fan.

Ah! Dark Shadows is it!

And james Cameron did NOT bring your idea for Thundercats to life. There is no way that your plot for Thundercats had any similarity to the plot of Avatar. Okay, so the blue aliens looked a little cat like, and it took place in the woods...but both the Godfather and The Hangover star humans on earth, and those movies are nothing alike. Keep the dream alive!

Dr. Who, It's Always Sunny, Venture Brothers, and LOST.
I'd love to see these two (I've never watched the other two). Venture Bros. should be animated, as should most movies based on cartoons. I can't think of a single animated show where I would prefer a live-action movie to an animated one.

No, what I meant is in terms of the special effects and visuals that's what I had in mind for Thundercats. >=(

They are making a Dark Shadows movie. Tim Burton is directing it and Johnny Depp will be in it too.

This was my idea for a Power Rangers reboot, with certain changes.. I'm hesitant to say "make it darker", especially 'cos it's Disney. So rather than say darker, they should definitely make it 'more serious'. Something similar in tone to POTC with lots of action but people of all ages can get into..

Power Rangers: Guardians

- Zordon is a humanoid alien.
- Zordon and Zedd are of the same race, perhaps even brothers. They created the power rangers to act as guardians to their planet.
- There were 6 power coins in total. They only work with those who have certain genetic markers and were handed out to those who were worthy to act as guardians.
- Zedd doesn't have this marker but unbeknown to Zordon, Zedd created a secret power coin, more powerful than the others.
- Goldar is one of the original guardians but is loyal to Zedd. He steals the 7th coin which Zedd uses to grow Goldar to gigantic sizes and start war on his planet.
- Zordon, himself a guardian, is entrusted with the 6 remaining power coins and flees his dying planet and the attacking army of Lord Zedd in his ship, the Alpha-5 which serves as a command station and houses the Zords.
- Zedd has no powers like in the show, Rita is his queen who is always on the look out for a chance to backstab him and take over his army and Goldar is his loyal general.
- Zordon crash lands on earth where he gives the power coins to 5 teens who are near to or investigating the crash site.
- The group, from the local school, are familiar with each other but aren't friends (they all belong to different social groups) so the movie would be as much about them learning to come together as a team than the action.
- The team would involve either the 1st or 2nd group of characters but miss out Tommy until the 2nd film. The zords would be based on the dino zords from the first series but have a more alien looking influence. (similar to how Oozes Metamophocons did in the first movie.)
- The rangers, on a training mission, end up using the zords to help out when an earthquake causes the suspension bridge to start breaking up, where they gain media coverage.
- Zedd, following Zordon to earth would send out his putty men to try and track down the teens and the power coins
- The putty men who would act as minor villains are Zedds army, a group of his people that he turned into zombie-like beings to do his bidding.
- The final fight would be between the giant Goldar (bigger than the zords seperately but equal to the Megazord) and the Megazord.

The 2nd film would see Zedd finding the 6th power coin (lost in the crash of the Alpha-5 in the first film) which is the coin for the Dragon Zord, the most powerful Dinozord. Zedd would recruit an introduced Tommy and corrupt him with the power of the Green Coin. The 2nd film would basically be the whole Green Ranger saga...

I'm not a fan of Tim Burton, but I think he could make a decent Scooby Doo movie. It would go well with his style.

Lost is barely understandable as a TV show, I don't think a movie would work

It's Always Sunny could make a great film
There are movies that are more of a mind **** than LOST. With two hours - 2 1/2 hours...you could make a good LOST movie. Maybe even a prequel for all I care. I just want to see a big budget LOST movie.

LOST is only barely understandable to the people who don't watch every episode. Just like a movie that has hints to only those that read the book(s). There are also 100+ hours of LOST so it is understandable that someone might not understand every facet of it.

The show is a pretty big hit, I think they could make a movie for $100 or so million and make a profit.

Oh that would be great! And maybe a little spooky.

Part of me thinks a movie would be awesome, but the other part of me wants them to leave well enough alone once the show is over. I really just want to be able to hold my six seasons of DVDs and say "This is LOST. No more, no less."

why are people so obsessed with PR being "serious"??

Because I think that if a big-screen reboot or spinoff ever made it into production, one of few options to make it profitable is to take a more serious slant (or less campy approach) to the material. There needs to be an audience connection or more to offer than just six teenagers in multicolored spandex fighting monsters.

If you've ever seen the likes of Power Rangers in Space, Time Force or even RPM -- the storylines and scope of the material cry out for big-screen treatment. It's not all 'serious', it pokes fun at itself but it's not dumbed down for kids either.

Which considering the popularity of the Transformers franchise, I just keep wondering why Disney hasn't considered a big-screen revival of the series? Emphasize the MegaZord fighting more, have a decent story (which isn't hard, there's plenty of material out there) and boom -- a potential movie franchise revived.
