Siege

Gillen's only a placeholder. Personally, I think his work will be good because he handled Beta Ray Bill pretty magnificently. But whoever comes after him will probably be a big name. Thor's been raking in cash for Marvel, so I doubt they're just going to leave his comic to wither. Especially if Bendis is reintegrating him as a major player in the Marvel universe with Siege.

Matt Fraction needs to hop on Thor asap and get the hell off X-men, he's not doing any good over there.

Fraction's hit or miss for me. He's had some good Thor stuff but he's also had Secret Invasion: Thor.

LOL. Wasnt that mini supposedly good? I could be wrong though I didnt read it but it thought i heard good things about it.

I thought it was okay. Some wonky art in some places but other than that decent.

It was just a stupid story to me. Thor's not the kind of guy who's gonna dither as Blake over some random baby while the entirety of his pantheon is in serious jeopardy. I understand what Fraction was trying to say about the dichotomy of man and god and all, but it just doesn't ring true to Thor's character to me. Plus the Skrulls f***ing cut Stormbreaker in half? What the Christ is that mother-father bullspit about?

I think you're just mad that he got beat up so bad by that She male skrull.

Partially. Nice way to bring us down from his well deserved streak of ass-kicking up to that point in his main comic. The entire Asgardian pantheon was portrayed as a bunch of weak, pathetic *****es. Beta Ray Bill was not only beaten but tortured at length and Stormbreaker was taken from him, identical enchantment to Mjolnir be damned. By f***ing Skrulls. The punching-bags of the cosmic community, along with the Kree.

So, basically, if you're looking for a mini-series that utterly and mercilessly abuses pretty much all of your favorite characters if you happen to be a fan of Thor and his world, Secret Invasion: Thor is great.

I thought it sucked. I'm sure someone, somewhere liked it.
Rulk fans.

That didn't make sense to me. Especially as things went on later, and Mjolner gets broken somewhat, and it loses power. Apparently, Thor went the wrong route, and shoulda made two Mjolners.

Whoa, leave the Pacific Island people out of this. :o

I wanna see Bill back behind the seat of his people's guns, shootin up people. :awesome:

It is actually pretty fun to see Bill shooting people with ridiculously huge guns instead of hitting them with Stormbreaker, I have to admit.

Yeah. I'd actually like to see another Korbinite, not Bill, like that. Remember that Omega weapon from Stormbreaker? Like that. Only, like Bill.

Bill with hammer is too awesome to give up.

Alpha Ray? He could come back Terminator-style. There is that one other Korbinite chick post-Godhunter, but somehow I don't think she's much of a fighter.

Yah, Alpha Ray. Just another enhanced Korbinite warrior like Bill, just with gunz.

There seems to be a lot of Fraction haters out there. I love his stuff on X-Men. Why is everyone so down on him?

His Iron fist was awesome and His Iron Man has kept me interested but his X-men has been a bit boring.

Who's the current Thor writer anyway, now that JMS is gone?

Technically, JMS is still the writer in terms of publication schedule. His final issue, a one-shot called Thor: Defining Moments, comes out in November. Then Kieron Gillen takes over. I'm not sure when his first issue will be. It was solicited for December, but that was when Defining Moments was supposed to come out in October, so I don't know if the delay with that issue has delayed the start of Gillen's run.

Anyway, Gillen's only going to be on for an arc or two. An unknown new creative team will take over after he's done.

Only Alpha Ray was a rampaging psychopath the last time we saw him. Minor detail, I know. ;)

I like Fraction. I just haven't been in love with absolutely everything he's done. Every writer has their bombs, and Secret Invasion: Thor was one of Fraction's, as far as I'm concerned.

lol I know. But I just mean another Super Soldier Korbinite in the mold of Beta Ray Bill, just with gunz.

Hopefully there's some secret last settlement of Korbinites out there so your dream can become a reality, 'cause right now it looks like all the Korbinites except Bill and his Galactus-spawned lady friend are dead.

What has this person written that should get me excited for his Thor run? If anything.

Galactus giveth, after Galactus taketh away in vast vast vast vast vast quantities. :o

Actually, whatever happened to that sphere of Korbinite peoples?

Lost after Stormbreaker, I believe. It's a dangling plot thread that should be addressed at some point, but who knows if it ever actually will be?

Beta Ray Bill: Godhunter. If he handles magic-Thor as well as he handled cosmic-Thor (a simplification of Bill, but you get what I mean), I think we should be very excited for his run.

Yeah, those overgods took up the sphere, and said they Korbinites will be reborn or something.

Dammit, reborn them!!! :cmad:

Actually, I wanted to see Beta Ray Bill on Omega Flight a little more.

Then we could have an Avengers/Omega Flight crossover where they compare their Thor-types.

And Godhunter, like Stormbreaker, was pure awesome Bill writing.

Whoever that random person in the robe was that restored Bill to life after Asteroth f***ed him up but good said that the orb and Bill's people still had hope, but then nothing was done with it after that. So they're still out there somewhere.

I liked Omega Flight too. It's a real shame they pulled the rug out from under Oeming and Kolins and turned it into a mini-series. I think they could've done some good stories before inevitably getting canceled.
