Siege

Nothing like watching Thor, Captain America and Iron man fight ninjas

I'm excited for this because I've been saying for months that come year's end I'm cutting a lot of Marvel books due to my growing rrustration with their pricing, greediness, etc.

Well, Dark Reign's end is what I've been waiting for and now I have a storyline. I'm just hoping it feels fairly clean cut at the end and doesn't roll into yet another huge change of some kind.

This will hopefully lead to my dropping nearly the entire Avenger line... and also the Hulk books, maybe some disant Avenger stuff like Secret Warriors and Thunderbolts, etc.

My goal is to get my buying down to at least half of what it is now.

Have the Avengers faught Ninjas recently at all? Heck, I can only think of 2 story lines they faught Ninjas and they were connecting storylines. Why people go all nuts about it is beyond me.

The way people just grab something and run with it...

hmph, comic book fans.

i was making a joke on the fact that people complain about that

Ninjas, HYDRA, whatever; Bendis has the New Avengers fight wusses if he even bothers to have them fight at all. Half his issues are filled with talking heads and the other half are filled with low-level nobodies or whatever the event-du-jour requires--other heroes during Civil War, Skrulls during Secret Invasion, etc. That's not worth being called an Avengers title in my book.

Honestly, I don't mind plenty of dialogue. It's just, I don't mind plenty of, "Sweet, they're getting somewhere" dialogue, rather than the, "Let's spend a whole page asking if we're being legit, and getting everybody's opinion on Spidey drinking out of the milk carton in front of us" dialogue.

I like dialogue that doesn't just say the exact same words with different puncuation.

Word? Word. Is that really how you feel? Is that really how I feel? Yeah is it? Yeah it is.
^and that's a page.

Well I think that back and forth right there qualifies us to write the next marvel big event. Now all we need is a crappy ending that doesn't involve the heroes accomplishing anything.

And Spider Woman and Luke Cage. While replacing Mister Fantastic as the smartest guy in the world with the 14th smartest guy in the world, who handles Mister Fantastic problems probably better than Mister Fantastic.

Let's throw in Jessica Jones, just because and have some psycho ***** as the cause of the whole thing.

dont forget the major villain they fight will be Paste Pot Pete...he is worthy of the Avengers

Paste Pot Pete can turn into a girl. Her master plan can be explained through a series of flashbacks from throughout the run of New Avengers that imply she's been up to something the entire time, though the flashbacks themselves will be made up because nothing like that actually happened during those respective issues.

Paste Pot Patricia was behind the Civil War...she glued Nitro in place and made him explode.....

As long as it's a crazy chick then we're good. Carry on Paste Pot Patricia.

I'm kinda looking forward to Siege - Olivier Coipel art, Thor-centric story, reunion of the Big Three - but yeah, Bendis writing is a bit of a worry. I mean, we know Origins of Siege, the free prologue kickstarting the event, has a Loki one-shot to start things off. But this will immediately alert us to the flaw of Bendis writing, when Loki's using "thees" and "thous" again.

I'm not sure why the same people who can write Ares and Hercules speaking in a holier-than-thou tone but otherwise normal English can't seem to grasp that Thor, Loki, and the Asgardians talk that way too. If the FCBD Avengers story is any indication, I'm very worried for Bendis' writing on Thor and Loki. But whatever. It'll sell well, increase their profile, and, thanks to Coipel, look really, really pretty. I guess I can stand a little potential damage to their characterizations for those kind of benefits. Thor's been manhandled many a time before and survived as a viable character, after all.

Eh, i hate to be pessimistic but i feel like Thor's gonna fade back into obscurity once JMS leaves the book. Kieron Gillen and Billy Tan aren't bringing my hopes up. Then again who knows maybe Siege will re-energize Thor like Civil War did Ironman and Cap.
