Siege

Yeah, they were gods on the level of Astaroth (who was oddly hot. [It should come as no surprise to anybody that Françoise finds the evil genocidal maniac in that story as "hot"]) who couldn't interfere, and wanted to reward Bill with his service by anything, and simply send him into a homeless mans body, and take his people, probably to eat them. =/ Chiefly as Astaroth was going to eat them first. Or ate most of them anyway.

See, I thought that robed figure was Thor when I read it. But now I have no idea who it could be, since obviously Thor would've told Bill if he knew that some of his people were still around. I guess it was just some "good" representative from the same league of gods as Asteroth. Another thing we'll probably never find out.

Yeah, pigeon holed most likely. They were like on the same level of the gods above the Norse gods were or something. They were extradimensional hell gods or some sort, and she was their bad sheep.

Whatever it was, it sucked it went nowhere.

SO when is Marvel going to "fix" the Avengers and bring back the classic line up and return to the original numbering?

Yes they will! IN JOE Q I TRUST!!!!! PLZ bring back the "real' Avengers.

I dunno if putting them back at their old numbers would be wise. Having extremely high numbers like that turns away new readers, which they want.

Not necessarily. They've restored the original (or close to the original) numbering for several other series already and they're still selling fine.

Selling fine, but not increasing in numbers like how comics tend to if they are big names on restart.

You know how some fans feel about being bogged down by hundreds of issues of history to catch up on.

I like to have as close to complete runs of some books as I can. In my lifetime, I feel it is reasonable to acquire a complete run of Daredevil. Now obviously, it is not reasonable to try for titles like Batman, Detective or books like that. BUt I have what is a comic library, with everything on shelves in alpha order. So when I sit down to read certain story lines, its a real problem to find issues missing.

I like Fraction. I just haven't been in love with absolutely everything he's done. Every writer has their bombs, and Secret Invasion: Thor was one of Fraction's, as far as I'm concerned.

I actually loved SI: Thor. I know there were a few plotlines that were a bit iffy, but overall the story was one of the better ones to come out of Secret Invasion.

And the art was awsome.

Well, I agree on the art, at least. But give me a straightforward story about gods doing awesome god stuff like Incredible Herc any day. I don't need to see Thor whine in Blake's head while Blake selfishly puts one random baby before the entire remnants of Thor's civilization.

Relaunches only provide a short-term burst in sales, at best. There's almost always a slight drop-off from #1 to #2 and then it either stabilizes over time or continues to drop off. Same with the renumberings back to their higher numbers, too. All of those things are just gimmicks to provide a small boost now and then. The long-term success depends on the state of the market as a whole (which is declining in general now, along with all other written products like novels and newspapers) and the content of the comic (note: not the quality, just whether the content resonates with a lot of people).

The first part is inevitable. The original numbering....I don't think that's going to happen.

Actually, that's entirely likely to happen. That's the new thing.

Ya, in Siege they are planning on bringing Cap, Thor, and Iron Man together again and rejoin the Avengers. Im hoping we finally can get back to having one single avengers team.

It'll be sorta sad to see if they take over Hanks team, and then oust him from leadership.

More likely though, they'll take over the New Avengers team, get written by Bendis, and suck.

I'm hoping it's Hank, so I can see Thor, Cap, and IM at least written well by Slott. :(

Sorry Hank, but Bendis just sucks.

Yeah, I guess it's okay. Hank should be used to it.

I am so ready for somebody else to be in charge of the Marvel universe. Somebody not Bendis. Of course that's won't happen.

To be honest - I wouldn't put any of the Marvel trinity on the Avengers or Bendisvengers. Those teams are trucking along without them. Maybe a book featuring just the three of them (co-written by Fraction and Brubaker?), though I guess that could be seen as a rip off of what DC did but whatever.

I doubt we'll see the original numbering. If Cap, Thor & IM unite, they'll be on Mighty Avengers... Unless Bendis gets his hands on them. :(

Well, having them heading up America's dream team again would really put the MU back in place of heroism and doing right by the people. It'd be symbolic, where fans and Marvel residents alike would breathe a collective sigh of relief and comfort.
