Surfer needs to be CG. It just wouldnt work any other way. Therefore, voice is the only thing that matters...and Keanu Reeves does NOT have the voice for Silver Surfer, he has the voice for California Surfer.

Sure, he can hit the emotionless tone and vocal workings every once in a while. But he will not hold up to the philosophical debating and deep inner-thoughts that the Surfer has.

Keanu has more than filled his alotted share of big desirable scifi roles in the last few years. I thought all 3 Matrix sucked (actually I only saw the first one and avoided the far worse reviewed 2nd and 3rd), but it's obviously a huge franchise that tons of people would have wanted to play. Now with a Constantine franchise and "A Scanner Darkly", which has as much potential to be the best movie of the year as anything else I can think of, despite his limitations as an actor, it would be particularly grevious to hand this guy yet another geek icon to probably mediocretise.

Why should Laurence Fishburne be the Silver Surfer?

Okay awhile ago when they were releasing the multitudes of comic book movies. Star TV did interviews with various actors. In these interviews they asked these actors what superhero would they want to play.

Interviewer: "If you could play a comic book superhero, who would it be?"

LF: "Norinn Radd. You know who that is don't you?"
(Please note that he did actually say Norinn Radd and did not just come out with Silver Surfer.)

LF: " IT's the Silver Surfer"

This is why he should play him...

I think Billy Zane would be a good Silver Surfer but who would you get to do the voice for Galactus, it needs to be somone with a powerful voice that makes you stand and listen

I'm sure we could all pick a good actor for SS, but I like the idea of Reeves. The man has decent enough star power and the SS isn't exactly a well known comic. I think Reeve can pull it off.

Why, because he knows the SS's real name?! So if...Martin Short was being interviewed and when asked the same question gave the same answer, HE would be perfect for the role?

Your logic is flawed. I would rather see LF do the voice for Galactus.
