Sometimes this site takes a while to respond. Be patient with it and just wait a minute or so before you try clicking again.

Classic Kirby cover showing the Cosmically Enhanced Doom slugging it out with the FF... sort of reminds me of an Ali/Frazier fight :woot:

I am afraid I wouldn't call the condition of my FF collection near mint. We bought those issues on the old spinner racks they used to have in the drug stores (no such thing as a comic book shop back then) and just kept them in an old armoire in the basement. We read them to death and you can see from the condition of the previous scan they are a bit dog-eared. Who'd thunk to keep them wrapped in plastic back then??

One thing I did luck out on is that I did find a copy of the coffee table sized book "The Art of Jack Kirby"... with his autograph on the inner cover page. I do have all the FF Masterworks but sometimes the color printing on those look a bit "off" to me. But the greatest thing is that FF DVD Rom of about 500 plus issues.

More Kirby pencils, from FF #49....

How cool. #49 was tonight's (1-3-06) bed-time story for my daughter. She enjoyed seeing the original pencils for what's a brand new story to her. We read it from a dog-eared Marvel Treasury Edition that I've had since '75. Ah...nostalgia.

Finally, more of the Silver Surfer's first appearance.
Sorry for the delay. :yay:
After signaling for Galactus near the end of FF#48, the Surfer allowed Ben to knock him off the roof of the Baxter Building, out of sight for the moment.
We next see the Surfer in FF #49, collapsed-by incredible coincidence- on the roof of Alicia Masters' studio apartment. In the preceeding panels, you get a taste for just how defeated the FF feel after Galactus has brushed them aside like insects. We also learn that Ben apparently has no need for bathtime privacy.

I like the way Kirby drew the Surfer, but Mobius is little better artist in my mind..

Alicia's "dinner" with the Surfer picks up a few pages later. (In the meantime, Galactus is assembling his terrible machine atop the Baxter Building that will absorb the Earth's life energies.)
