Its lame because its an excuse, pure and simple. Imagine if every time you criticized the President, people were like "shut up, do it yourself then dude!"

I have my own job and I'm doing it. If I'm doing a ****ty job other people can tell me, whether or not they have the same job as me.

this is ESPECIALLY true in an artistic medium! Its the whole point!

Wow, you really are slow. The presidency and being a movie writer is apples and oranges. Everyone knows that President Bush is a failure to humanity and aren't shy of letting him know that he's crap.

But I'm talking about MOVIES. Know what movies are? Do you know what a writer is? If so, then feel free to stop whining and actually get into the movie business, present your ideas, and see what happens. Unlike you I've read about this and I know now that its a business, that it's not this rosey idea where you can make the movie of your dreams all the time.

I refuse to bash Kinberg, Penn, or Ratner because they had a job to do and they have to eat too. I'll say that I'm disappointed if I am disappointed, but I refuse to threaten their lives or call them yes-men.

As I said, Dave Chappelle said it best, "if you're an aspiring director and writer, be prepared to walk into a room full of studio suits who have no idea what your material is about and be prepared for them to change and laugh at your ideas."

And this is coming from a man who wrote HIS OWN MATERIAL. He wasn't doing an adaptation of anything involving comics or movies. He wrote his own material and the studio still tried to screw him over, so if they can screw over a man writing his own material, what makes you think they can't and won't screw over someone translating material from a comic book?

I agree with you about the writters, there were given guidlines about the story, I guarentee they were told to keep the movie under 2 hours, kill of cylops and many other things, and I bet you after their first draft, the studio made them change things that they didn't like. I can though, blame Ratner, not about the story, but about the way the film is shot and about how Halle and Hugh really aren't trying, it's his responsibilty to get the most out of the actors........

imo X1 was a better directed movie (yes , even with those simple and flawed action scene ) more interesting because more deep on almost all levels.

I gave constructive criticism. I didn't "flame him" but I approached the film as a film and gave my insight into what I think was done wrong while also saying that I understand that not all blame falls on his shoulders.

Very nice insight Bosef, and I totally agree about the whole locations issue. How DO they get around so fast and easy? Lol.

Actually, didn't Ratner end up moving the final battle from DC to Alcatraz? So it's highly probable that Magento's Lair was meant to be on the East coast, as that already makes the most sense, but they just never bothered to fix the logic blunder that Alcatraz is on the other damn side of the USA.

Same with Angel, if the battle were in DC he could easily make it in time. They just switched locations and overlooked the logic.
