Simpsons vs. Family Guy

Family Guy was at least descent at the begining. it didn't depend on flashbacks and overused jokes. Plus it has 1-dimensioanl characters, when simpsons charcters are 3-dimensional. You can connect with them, understand their purpose, even when they are very stupid.

I love how the South Park guys made fun of Family Guy's interchangeble jokes, with their whole manatee episode.

I loved how South Park has become less and less relevant since season 6, and now are just trying to get people's attention by starting fights with other shows or bashing people's beliefs...........

The Simpsons is not good anymore. Since Family Guy came out it has turned to crap. FG is way better and is one of the funniest shows on tv. South Park made fun of it out so they could people to watch. The Simpsons has yet to do anything like Family Guy ever.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but that has to be one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard. There isn't much the Simpsons havent done. That's one of the reasons the show has been declining in the last 10 years or so. This thread has been done a billion times before, but I still say the Simpsons is not only better than Family Guy, but the first 10 seasons areup there with some of the best sitcoms in history. It's just a shame the show went off track like it did.

This has probably already been said, but really this isn't a particularly fair debate. People point out that Family Guy has been better than recent Simpsons, but really, I very much doubt Family Guy would be even close to the caliber that the Simpsons currently is after 15 or so more seasons (and to be perfectly honest I can't stand more than half of the episodes produced in the last 9 or so seasons of the Simpsons). If you were to compare Family Guy's first five seasons to the Simpsons first five seasons, Simpsons wins hands down, especially when you consider that the Simpsons were breaking ground when they did those episodes, whereas Family Guy already had the Simpsons, South Park, and King of the Hill as predecessors. What amazes me is Simpsons didn't even really peak until about seasons 4 through 9 or so. Family Guy has been going slowly downhill the last two seasons. While there have been some hilarious episodes of Family Guy, it just isn't nearly as consistent when looking at the Simpsons.

i agree with you, i wouldnt have seen it unless the older writers came back so i really dont like the new episode's i think there getting old.

I hate Family Guy's overuse of cutaway gags,and parodies,that seems to be the only way they can get their laughs.
In one 20 minute episode,me & my brother counted (yes,how sad lol) 14 flashbacks/cutaways
They can't be original.

Simpsons.

I like Family Guy, but it couldn't maintain top quality after its return from cancellation.

I like them both. Both shows have their good points and bad points. Simpsons glory days are over, but still put out the occasional good episode. Most Family Guy episodes have at least a few good laughs in them. I like most of their cutouts and flashbacks. Some are just dumb and too drawn out, like the prom queen dumpster baby and the Robert Loger gag. Family Guy will not even come close to the number of years on the air that the Simpsons will put up though.

simpsons is more established ,had a blockbuster movie this year , has been around so long that everyone is familiar with it . family guy on the other hand may be what most kids are watching today and is really funny but it does not surpass the simpson in terms of cultural relevance

I love both. But Simpsons will always be better. FG was boring at the beginning. It also has to many sex jokes, sex jokes get boring after a million times so listen TV (every show does it) the jokes are OLD!
