Oooooh, I see. Anyone who expresses a criticism about the movie is instantly incorrect or wrong simply because they've never directed a better movie.
You're right, that makes so much more sense!
In my humble opinion, criticism of criticism is much more worthless to an online community than the original criticism itself. But hey, that's just me.

One, it's not clear at all. There's no real way of knowing if Singer was legitimately praising the film or being polite with his friend. Short of reading his mind, it's impossible to say for sure. I personally take him at his word, but I also recognize that he might have just said it to be nice.
Two, don't "you guys" me. I'm not sitting here claiming Singer didn't like it. As I just said, I take him at his word. But I'm simply saying this comment doesn't guarantee or clearly show he enjoyed it. He said he did, but people say lots of things.
