Ratner hopes to direct "Young X-Men" Spin-Off

Hmm..i'm not sure if i'd want Ratner to direct 'Young X-Men'. But then again its not really up to me.

*looks at Tom Rothman*

I hope they make the team the main character and not just one member.I hope the team is Colossus,Iceman,Angel,Kitty, and Rogue.

No interest at all in seeing anything further with this franchise until Cyclops is brought back.

Do you think it would work to bring him back? Would the audience buy it? Where would he have been?

I'm not saying I don't like it, but I wonder how it could be done....

Will he be mourning Jean and then end up with Emma Frost or Madelyne Pryor?

^^Actually not everyone i've spoken to thinks Scott is dead, so yes i think some would buy it. The question is, will Fox buy that idea? They didn't want him in the 3rd movie remember? Plus i think the fact that both Magneto and Xavier got a promising ending and not Cyclops speaks volumes.

BTW I think its lame to bring back Xavier from the dead. I'm not buying the whole 'transferring ones consciousness to another body' idea.:down Death has no impact is resurrection follows so soon afterwards. Jean is the only exception to the rule.

Ratner knew the stories. He could of fought for a little bit better treatment of Scott.

Thats probably what vaughn did, and we see where that got him.

Jk

I know he dropped out ovef family concerns, but I think that if Fox had been a little more mature this film would have been much better and we would not here so much complaining about character development, I mean I don't care how you slice it, the studio just did not give them the time they needed to work out the bugs in the script.

I like many others on the boards, I have have noticed as of late am writing a Fan ficiton X4, and it picks up directly after X3 ended, and my explanation for cyclops since he was "killed" off camera, is that Jean being the other personality was able to stop phoenix and knock herself out, I kind of pictured a flashback scene where Jean is mentally fighting Phoenix and manages to knock herself out but before she does she protects scott in a field of psychic energy similar to what the novelization said she used to protect herself from the wave, and placed him underwater, then erased the memory from her mind so that Phoenix would not remember what happened, I have already written out the section where scott wakes up under water and he opens his eyes shooting an optic blast to get a breath of air, because he has been in this sort of psychic bubble since he kissed Jean. I have written it so he hitchhiked back to the school, I just think it leads to more possiblities to have him just show up at the school rather than calling.

Considering he did have alot to do with the story, I wouldn't be surprised if he suggested killing off Cyke...he seemed kind of liberal with certain aspects of the characters from when he used to talk about it in interviews...well before he left the production.

Ratner can't direct penn was promised if he wrote the gen-x spin-off he could also direct.I can see it now a x-movie that doesn't have wolvy, storm, mags hogging the screen time and rogue gets to actually kick ass,now that is a x-movie.

Cudmore is signed for one more though he'd be a main character in the new series I'm sure so they'd renegotiate a 3 pic deal with him again surely.

I doubt he'd be a main character. Shadowcat and Iceman would be the main ones, along with whatever new stars they roped in.

No rogue, beast and iceman will be-I doubt ellen will be a big enough star to get star bill.

Cudmore only signed for X2 and X3 to my knowledge.

I really hope Rogue gets to kick some behind -for real- in this one. She's been at the school so long, surely she must have learned something about combat?

Peter Jackson would make an excellent X-Men, however, he already has done two major masterpieces with LOTR and King Kong(IMO).

I second that

Imagine Weta Digital's interpretation of Dark Phoenix though... That would be awesome. Peter Jackson would've been perfect for Hulk though, he and his crew would've knocked that one out of the park.

I think Joss Whedon deserves a chance to write & direct an X film.

  OMG!!!  CAN YOU IMAGINE!! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN STUNNING TO SAY THE LEAST!! ..........WOW!...JUST WOW!!

Jackson would definitely be able to capture the epic fantasy element of the comicbooks and still give it that serious down to earth nature ala LOTR. Wow!

Oh man, fans can only hope...

Jesus, no.
I want intelligent action and a plot that goes deep next time.
I know Ratner may have nothing to do with that. But he is "the-director-who-couldnt-cast-an-unknown-Superman", which means not powerful enough to put his wishes. He just says yes to the studio, and...errm...the studio is...FOX :p

This is what really eats you up about the negative spin on the boards by fans sometimes. How is Ratner a 'YES' man.

The Guy dropped out of the SUPERMAN movie because they would not let him choose an unknown and you still find a way to criticize him for having the guts to walk away from Superman?

Singer was the Xmen creator and he CHOSE to walk away from his baby for SUPERMAN. This was more important to him than XMEN.

And you guys are bashing Ratner and clamoring for Singer.

WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE.

WETA did do effects. Don't think it was DP though

^ It'd be easy for Jackson to make Hulk 2. Just start the beginning with the Hulk jumping over to Skull Island and take the Hulk Movie and remove the CGI Kong and repalce it with the Hulk, add some jumping scenes here and there along with some extra footage and you're done. A 3 hour crapfest.

HEY HEY show some respect to PETER JACKSON.

I honestly belive he is the best in the industry when it comes to making SPECTACULAR CGI driven movies.

I think george lucas, steven spielberg and all other action directors who love making CGI driven movies are useless and pathetic compared to PETER JACKSON.

He is the best and can easily make the best X-men, fantastic four and any comic book movie u give him.

btw the LENGTH of the movie depends on studios. And i know comic based movies are not meant to be more than 2hrs 30 min long.

So PETER JACKSON can still make amazing comic based movies.

U guys hate KING KONG because it was 3 hours long and a LITTLE TOO MUCH for u guys.

U hate LOTR becasue it has made LOADS of money and is the MOST successful franchise of all time while your x-men or even fantastic four aint even close. Although i like both x-men 3 and fantastic four but hate x1 and x2.

I believe PETER JACKSON is the BEST.

I agree, I didn't like seeing those endings for Xavier or Magneto. The impact of Xavier's death is mostly gone now that he's back, and it's going to be interesting seeing him show up at his own tombstone. I think he should be handled now as staying with Moira, showing development there, because he has too much regret for involving the X-Men (they had shown this since X1) and bringing him back is just kind of cheesy.

And your not the only one with difficulty buying into him transferring his consciousness- mostly everyone in the theatres each time I saw it really enjoyed the film, but the extra ending made everyone say "what?? what the **** is that about?" and whatever else goes along those lines.

Steven Spielberg? Come on now.. how can you ever hate the man that made Raiders of the Lost Ark? But George Lucas I agree on... he's a waste of space and billions of dollars. I despised the prequel trilogy, and he goes out of his way to say how great it is because its made so much money. Did you hear him comment about how the failure of Mission: Impossible 3 was because it had no story and was only action driven?? The story for the prequel trilogy was horrible (the only good star wars product with the prequel trilogy is the clone wars cartoon), and when was M:I-3 a failure? Just because it didn't make as much as its horrific predecessor doesn't mean its bad (not saying its great, but its certainly better than Ep.1-3). He's just a condescending ***hole
