Singular Universe: Brave New World -- Sign Up/OOC Thread

Ah, sorry about that. I can change it or just have it that she outright stole it. Its no big deal, the Green Power is essentially gone forever, it was just a fun way to tie the diferrent universes together as one. I typed the history up quick, I should done a little more research.

By all means, take her up. I left it open ended so former rangers still had the ability to come back.

I tried to establish it so all of the Might Morphin cast is established, and anybody can jump in, and then leave it open ended for anyone to come along and play as Zeo/Turbo/Space etc and make there own history. Hence the originals moving on but retaining coins, and Gordon looking for new teams with new powers

Singular Universe: Brave New World Character Application
:

Character Name: Kimberly Hart - Pink Power Ranger
Alignment (Hero, Villain, Walking the Line):Hero

Character Speech Color and Font (actually say what it is, like Blue Comic Sans): Pink Arial Narrow

Powers and Abilities: Kim possesses the Pink Pterodactyl power coin, and is an accomplished gymnast.

Character Origin/Major Events: The origin as presented in Tommy's history. Kim has left to compete in the Olympics, but a new threat arises whilst she's abroad...

Why this character? I grew up with the Rangers, and loved them dearly. I still occasionally go back and watch episodes for nostalgia sake. (Plus I've met both JDF and David Yost, so there's that)

What can you bring to the RPG? Keeping Kat out of this. :P

Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more and featuring at least one line of dialogue: Coming soon.

I'm perfectly fine with the Power Rangers being an offshoot of the Major Crimes Unit.

I'm not sure Lieutenant Spawn and Captain Jonah Hex would really approve of that. Though I can see Sergeant Zorro and Officer Cyclops being pretty okay with it.

"Sir, the Joker's escaped! Should we light up the Batsignal?"

"Nah, send the giant robot."

So that brjngs me to my only slight worry about the Power Rangers. I'm totally going to approve you guys, so don't worry about that. But the Zords and constant attacks by giant monsters seems like it might cheapen the specialness of things like Godzilla.

Not saying, "Get rid of the Zords", but maybe make them a rare occurence? I could be completely off base with this request, and feel free to tell me to shove it, but that's my view.

"...and in other news, two bank robbers were apprehended today by Mega-Zord, as this message was left by the Power Rangers apologizing for the destruction of two thirds of the city and the catastrophic loss of life."

"Sorry guys. My bad."

I'll put my two cents in about the Rangers and Zords and how they relate to Goji, once I'm off work.

I should have another app up tomorrow as well.

A bit more pure heroic, this one as well... thank god.

Goji vs. Megazord is something I'm intently looking forward to

Season One's Power Ranger Main Event: Megazord vs Galactus. BAM!

I really wasn't planning on using the Tigerzord much, maybe something like that; build to one big threat at season's end. I mean, in the show, you'd sit there all excited waiting for the end of the episode for the 70 full seconds of Zord action, unless it was one of those days they pussed out and only used the Power Blaster or something.

I hated those episodes. I have the entire Mighty Morphin Series on DVD, and there are like 4 or 5 episodes in a row where there are no Zords. Even at 30 years old I was starting to get pissed.

I don't feel like a large amount of giant monsters makes Gojira less impressive. The guy should be head and shoulders above anything Rita can muster up, and probably even monsters like Fin Fang Foom and Gamera. He's the King of Monsters, God(zilla)dammit!

Also, I want to see Frank Castle vs. Putties.

This. Godzilla's entire function, once you get past the initial threat he poses to a human populace, is to square off against other beasts no matter how ridiculously powerful they are.

Hell, if anything, I see putting more giant monsters in the game as giving Godzilla more **** to wreck, which gives him more to do. Basically, the opposite of the 2014 movie. :oldrazz:

I trust you guys. You'll make it work, and I would not want to handcuff you at all. Don't hold back, it was just a discussion I thought I'd bring up.

Don't be dissin' Godzilla 2014, MB. Don't you dare. :p

I actually liked the movie more than most did, I was just messin'.

But yeah... needed more 'Zilla. Which most things do, to be fair.

"SWEAR TO ME!"
"SKREEEEEEEEEEYONNNNNNKK!!!"

**** the Hype's CAPS LOCK filter.

Also, I'm really enjoying this. I hope I'm making Tony come off as as much of an ******* as I think I am.

So. On the subject of kaiju and Rangers and Zords (oh my).

The only real issue I'd have with the Power Rangers running around would be that it makes G-Force and their own kaiju-hunting teams more or less irrelevant, which would scrap an awful lot of things I had in mind. However, if the Rangers and G-Force sort of operate the same way that the Avengers do in regards to SHIELD, the one wouldn't necessarily overlap the other.

As for the matter of other giant-size heroes and monsters making Godzilla less special, well, scale is a very important thing to keep in mind.

Looking at some of the Super Sentai wiki pages, it looks like the Megazord, the Tiger-Zord, and most of the other bipedal Zords stand around 50 meters tall and weighing in at around 150 metric tons, which puts them in the same range as most of the kaiju in the Showa era of movies ('54-'75). To use Pacific Rim's kaiju-classifying system, most of them would be a Category 2. (Rodan's offensive capabilities and Anguirus's heavy armor might make them Cat-3, so before Goji arises, they'd be primary rivals for 'king' of the island). Given the firepower the Rangers are loaded with, they'd probably be able to knock most of them around with little effort.

Godzilla himself, though, is a whole 'nother story. I'm using the Heisei ('84-'95) incarnations of Godzilla, as well as Mothra (and when he shows up, King Ghidorah), and they're all roughly twice the size of their Showa counterparts. Heisei Goji stands at over 100 meters tall, and weighs in at over 60,000 metric tons. That makes him an easy Category 4, and later Heisei monsters like their series' Ghidorah, or Space Godzilla or Destoroyah, would be well into Category 5.

So even the most pimped-out, final-form Megazord would barely come up to Godzilla's waist, and only carries about 1/500th the mass of the King. Even with the Rangers' high-tech and magic weapons, they really don't have even remotely the kind of power needed to slug it out with Big Green in a straight-up fight.

Though that in and of itself would make for a much more interesting story than just "two big things punch each other until one of them leaves," since the Rangers would have to fight a lot smarter against Godzilla than they would against basically anything they've ever encountered before.

Batman Begins definitely needed more 'Zilla

I saw this reply a few hours ago and I have since been obsessing over scenes of my favorite HBO miniseries, John Adams, with Godzilla inserted into the movie.

John Hancock: And how does the gentlemen from Tokyo vote on Independence?

*Godzilla in a giant powdered wig stomps on Independence Hall, torches Philadelphia in atomic fire*

And then, after Thomas Jefferson decreed his disagreement, this happened:
