Hey. Can someone PLEASE help me out here. I'm trying to find where it was first mentioned why The Green Goblin and Doctor Doom didn't want to join the first incarnation of the Sinister Six.

I know their reasons: Gobby said he wanted to work on destroying Spider-man on his own. And Doc Doom said he was too busy battling the FF.

But WHERE was this mentioned!?

I've looked through my Essential reprint of ASM Annual #1 and I can't find it anywhere!!!

I'm pretty well schooled in Spider-Man and didn't even know Green Goblin and Doctor Doom were even ASKED. Besides, didn't the ASM Annual come out before the Green Goblin even appeared?

No, it came out around ASM 15-16, and the Goblin had appeared in ASM 14.

I too have no idea when Doom or GG were asked. I didn't know Ock had asked them. I've never seen him mention it.

In the original Sinister Six story he seemed to be expecting only those who showed up. He made no references to having tried to recruit others.

That was broom stick Green Goblin, heh. He hadn't gotten the kick ass glider yet.

I couldn't remember if he appeared after the Annual or right before it. I haven't read my Essential Spider-Man Volume 1 in like 2 years. :o

Are you going by wikipedia? Because wikipedia's not reliable. It could have never happened... Having said that ask someone rrrreally knowledgable - like Supreme Intelligence or Mr Fantastic knowledgable like TheManofBat

This is really random. Ock's way too proud to ask those other two brilliant egocases (even though he didn't know who GG was yet.) The other 5 were certifiable thugs he could control, no way would Ock want to clash with someone else as smart as he was.

No I remember that line too, I read in in that DK Spider-Man the Ultimate Guide, however I've never actually seen in outside of that.

Aloha,
You are correct-it is mentioned in the Ultimate Guide page 58. But you won't find any mention of it in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1.

YES! That's it. That's where I read it.

Thank you guys!
