Horror Sinners - Michael B. Jordan/Ryan Coogler Reunite

If he probably waited to shoot the movie this year and release it next year he might have perfected it.

It's not likely that he had that option, if he wanted to retain the cast/collaborators he has on the film. His two go to guys Jordan and Goransson especially.

I actually didn't know this was a
vampire movie
, saw the first trailer when it came out and then forgot about it. It was a nice surprise learning it was about
vampires.
It was a nice story, I did find it contradicts itself a bit with the ending scene.
The movie set up the vampires as new beings that inhabit these people that are killed. So promises made based on family ties or closeness seems strange. They even reiterate these are not who they knew. So watching the 2 vampires act /treat the person at the end like family or friend is off.

Just came back from seeing this. What an electric movie. It's not perfect, but an instant classic nevertheless.

That 6% drop is absolutely insane. Might even get to 5% when actuals come in on Monday. Coogler's deal for a box office percentage starting day 1, and getting the rights back in 25 years, will have him set for life.

Edit: noticing some bs online with people being salty about Coogler's deal, so I'll add that I mean this in the nicest way possible. Mans made another amazing movie. He deserves it.

Cruise is going to try to convince Coogler to the be next one to try and kill him.

The only downside (and this isn't against the film at all) is that it hasn't taken off overseas.
I don't know if it has had a delayed opening in some territories or not, but the numbers are disappointing.
If it gets anywhere near $300m then the domestic performance will have done some very heavy lifting.

Well I like
vampire movies,
so hopefully this surges a new batch of them.
That last one I saw was Salem's lot and that was a good one too.
Remember Tom Cruise once played
a vampire way back when.

Speaking as someone who watched the Jurassic Park IMAX 3D rerelease back in 2013, Coogler is on point here.

Saw this yesterday with a friend, and I have to say, I really, really loved this movie, so did he! The cast, writing, production design, cinematography, score and directing were all really well done! Also made me jump a few times to the point I thought I was going to have a heart attack, but that was probably because of the sound. I also startle easily. :funny:

Definitely want to see this again, especially as I missed a few minutes after Smoke turned into a vampire! Came back just in time for the third act, which was awesome!

9/10 for me!

No, you misundersoood.
Annie thought they were haints at first. She said haints switch souls with their victims. But once she realized they were vampires, she said they are even worse, because once someone becomes a vampire, their soul is stuck in their body, and they can never rejoin their ancestors, and are cursed to live on Earth (forever), and can never again see the sun.

Just got out of the movie. Damn fine movie. Damn fine.

Also, had a $5 million dollar monday. Tracking now has it going to $250 domestic. Think that will satisfy the racists at WB and Variety?

Maybe I missed something...why exactly is WB racist now?

Someone wanted the narrative of this movie to be failure. And sure, studio politics are a bit more cutthroat than usual at WB at the moment. But, when the movie they seem to be targeting is from a successful black creator, with a black cast, well, it tends to be obvious why that one is singled out to be called as a failure.

Replace Sheryl Fenn with Jennifer Beals and you got something here.
