So E.T. is one of the best films ever made...

Blanket statements. It's not like any of them retain the knowledge to even back the statement up. Basically what they are saying is...Spielberg is successful, I didn't like one of his films...overrated director. I dare any of you to really critically analyse E.T. or Schindler's List and tell me that is not the work of brilliant and extremely talented filmmaker. I mean really critique the films. Hell, add Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark to that list. Maybe it is just a trend to hate on him? Spielberg is one of greats as far as directors go. Most in the industry agree. In my opinion, his fame and success have worked against him and people over look his artistry.

I say that he WAS a good director, making some all time classics, but since schindler list, he's just made run of the mill films that anyone could make, they are not identifiably spielberg(apart from his OVERBEARING narrative formula). I think he is resting on his previous credit, not actually making 'classic' films anymore, just making some films. It's sad but true.

Thats not my opinion but keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep at night...and by the way I didn't even read the entire post. I'm sorry if I don't think that Speilberg is the master of all filmmakers.

E.T.'s skin sickens me.
E.T.'s skin when they think he's dead extra-sickens me.
Elliot, I don't like. He's a maudlin little drama queen and way too needy/possessive.
I did like watching a movie with my whole family and hearing "Penis Breath" however.

The E.T. ride at Universal Studios is my favorite ride. I was gonna say it's better than sex to be funny, but that's not funny. Nothing's better than sex.

When Elliot says Penis Breath, My tummy feels weird:(

EDIT: Damnit Wilehlm:mad:

I was jealous that I didn't get to ride behind ET on the ET ride. :csad:

HAha, I did....once.:(

I've mentioned before, it was funny 'cause my band was there with our too-cool friends from L.A. the Flys and the first time on, they ask you your name and everyone's saying crap like Seymour Butts and crap, but after the ride, we all got back in line and and when they asked for names everyone was "scott", "Randall", George", "Timothy"....lol

I was so jealous when I went on that ride as a kid. When E.T did his spiel, "Thank you, Bob, Jim, Lisa, etc" yada yada. But when he got to the end he would ,"... and Keith... Friend." Whoever the last person to put his name in the thing got to be E.T.'s friend and it was never me:(

Is it me or does the Universal in Orlando on a good day, take you only like 4 to 6 hours to get through all the good rides?

Well, I'm not positive about that, but I'm pretty sure the names come out in the order you put em in

Oh, now you're back-pedaling.
Maybe E.T. gives every 10th boy an animatronic hand job as well.

Do you expect I SEE SPIDEY to actually explain her position or elaborate on her vague accusations? Haha, silly forum poster.

I dunno. It seems I get ignored alot when I ask questions. Either they are dumb or they can't answer. I say it is about half and half. I mean Jaws alone should give Spielberg an awesome director pass but his resume just goes on and on.

Jaws
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Close Encounters of the Thrid Kind
E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
The Color Purple
Schindler's List
Saving Private Ryan
Amistad
Minority Report

yeah...overrated.

Don't forget Jurassic Park and the Terminal. I have seen alot of people that just hate the Terminal though I loved it.

While The Termial is a pretty good movie by general standards... I wouldn't rank it among his best. However, I would add Catch Me if You Can to the list.

here's a question, don't know if it's been asked here before:

Is ET a Jedi? (we know that ET's were in a Galaxy Far Far Away, a long time ago). So, were ET's powers a characteristic of his species, or was ET special, in the way that he was a Jedi Knight? Think about it, he can make things float, he can heal things, he can read minds...

also, In your opinion, was ET, steven speilbergs 2nd try at doing an alien landing movie? By that I ask, was he trying to make up for failures, from his point of view, that he made in his first alien landing movie?
